Download form text for translation

I understand how to add translations to a form, but is there a way to download the text that requires translating so we can give it to a translator? We wouldn't want to give edit permissions to the form to every translator that might be involved, so we need a way to easily provide the text (and ideally load the translated text back in).

    Thank you

    Hi Dan,

If I understand your requirement properly, you need to get each form text on the form to let some people translate them?

Unfortunately, we do not have any tool which exports from text without related fields of them.

However, you can download your blank form as a PDF. After downloading your form as PDF, there are external tools converting PDF to Word or vice versa. You can have a try it. It could be easier than typing each text manually.

You may have a look following guidance about how to create a PDF form.

    Hi Amjad

    Thanks for your response.

I think that, rather than use the PDF form, the closest I can get at the moment is going into Submissions and downloading the questions into Excel. The translation can then be added in the row beneath each question. Of course, this doesn't include the sub-titles or system prompts that are listed in the translation page.

Is this a regular request? I wouldn't have thought most companies have the ability to add translations in-house, so this must be a regular problem - I'm surprised it hasn't been requested, and it must be fairly easy for JotForm to add this.

    Hello,

As surprising as it might be, the request is not that regular. Usually, on the different cases encountered (as least on my end), most people would prefer to collect the translations and manually input them themselves so that they wouldn't have to share the form.

One person was in the same case as you and needed the help of different translators to make the page available in several languages.

The workaround I found with this is to duplicate the existing form and hand the duplicate over to the translators.

This way, there is no submission data on this duplicate, and if something goes sideways, you wouldn't impact a live form.

And then you can use the translated form live.

You can get the duplicate translated in any language you would like, and you can then remove everyone from this duplicate and combine the submissions into that translated form (https://eu.jotform.com/apps/combine-submissions).

The only drawback I see there is that you would have to update the shared or embedded link once the translated form is live.

We can also ask our developers to implement the functionality you were asking about, but please note that we wouldn't have any time estimation to give you regarding the implementation.

    Hope this helps.
