Tables: All the columns got out of order suddenly.

Something happened to our Submission Table columns in Jotform that we are hoping to understand to stop it from recurring in the future. Let me provide an example to explain the problem.

The form data includes repetitive fields on each input form. For example, a user enters a single company name and then enters a number (1-20) for the number of contacts for that user. Based on this number, multiple fields open up where the user can input names and cities of contacts. For example, if user enters number of contacts: 3, 3 rows of input fields open for 1st contact name, 1st city 1, 2nd contact name, 2nd city, 3rd contact name, third city. The maximum is 20.

The submission table data would normally show company name, contact name 1, city 1, contact name 2, city 2 up to contact name 20, city 20 across the columns with some of the columns blank if there were less than 20 contacts . Now it shows company name, city 2, contact name 15, contact name 7, city 12, etc. I know I can go in and manually put the columns back in the correct order but I have no idea why this happened and it is affecting our reporting. This happened a few months ago as well and we needed to manually re-align the columns then so I know this can be done. Just trying to understand how the columns get jumbled to begin with. Thank you for your help. Please let me know if you need any further details.

    Hi,

Thank you for the detailed description. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

I can see that the columns are out of order:

1612995196_60245a7c38796_tablescolumns.pAs you mentioned that this has happened previously as well, I have forwarded this to our back-end team for investigation. We do not have an estimated timeframe yet, but as soon as we have any information or updates, we will inform you on this ticket.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Laura.

I did some troubleshooting on my own today and uncovered the following. Could you kindly pass this along to the team working on this ticket?

    1. I re-ordered the columns manually so that the Submissions table lined up with the fields on my form input data again.
    2. I used the hide/show function within Columns and hid all but one of the columns. Our users do this occasionally to run specific reports and I believe this may be what triggered the problem.
    3. I went into hide/show again and re-selected all columns. The columns came back in the jumbled order - again not aligning with the form input data.

So somehow by using hide/show, it seems we are disrupting the connection between the fields on the input form and the columns on the Submissions table.

I look forward to hearing from your team. Thank you
