Conditional formating

we have an date selection and then an appointment date selection - is there a way to define what opens on the appointment calendar based on what the person inputs on the date selection up above earlier in the survey?

That is not possible. The Appointment field will always show the first available date. With Conditional logic, you can only hide or show the whole Appointment field.
