Translate autocomplete items to another language

  • amandawichert
Asked on February 16, 2021 at 2:04 PM

I have a big problem - the autocomplete doesn't show up in the form translation. All autocomplete questions just don't appear to be translated!!!!!

I've already had the client sign off on the survey and on having it translated into two languages - this must work!

Please take a look at the form - it's very clear when you look at the form that they're just not there, so there must be an error with the translator!

    Greetings, Amanda!

    Apologies for the inconvenience.

Please, can I clarify: - Are you referring to these fields? I am not sure that I understand what autocomplete questions are you mentioned.

Not at all! I am talking about the autocomplete widget. The fields in the autocomplete widget do not show up in the translation settings when I try to translate my form. Also, one dropdown (regular dropdown) form is missing. There is a major error/bug with the translation tool and I really really really really need it to actually work. Is there a number I can call to get faster answers? This is super important!
I’m kind of confused at this answer, to be honest, it’s not even close to what I asked. Do you really need screenshots? It’s very clear. Open the translation settings (translating to English, under settings for the form) and look at them. You will see that there are fields missing. There are fields missing in the translation settings. Go under settings and open translation.

    Hello Amanda,

At the moment we do not offer phone support.

We opened the settings and we saw translated and non-translated entries. We would require screenshots to be able to have a better representation of which parts are missing or not behaving properly and offer you the fastest resolution possible.

Waiting for your reply and your screenshots.

Do not hesitate to reach out if you need further assistance.

No, this is not even close to what I asked. Is there a telephone number or a chat so that I can ask questions directly? I’m really worried now because I’m relying on this product to work by tomorrow!!!! and it doesn’t and I’ve gotten two answers that have nothing to do with my question!

    Hello,
I don’t know how to send you a screenshot of something that is not there. I need you to actually look yourselves because there are multiple translations missing – I can’t believe you won’t do this?! I’ve worked in software and this is really sloppy programming and also not really helpful error correction! I’m really worried about the quality of JotForm, do I need to cancel and find a new service? I have a subscription and use it a lot but you are not giving me a positive feeling about this at all. If you took the three minutes it would take to actually open the form, which I’ve sent the link to, and to look at the translations, which you can see, it would be obvious. There’s no way you can fix this error without actually looking at the form.
As is very obvious, there are multiple translations missing from the list. If you open the translation settings, many questions are missing. I cannot translate them because they’re not in the list. I have no idea how you want me to send you a screenshot of them because they’re not there, which is not something I can take a screenshot of. Here is a screenshot of where the first question should be????
    [cid:image003.jpg@01D70522.11CE2AF0]
Here is the second set of missing questions (these are autocomplete widgets). Again, I don’t know how to make a screenshot of something that isn’t there. This is the best I can do.
    [cid:image004.jpg@01D70522.11CE2AF0]
To be honest, it really feels like you are not trying to solve my problem (usually you have to open the form and look at it and then see the error) – in my experience, repeatedly asking the client for screenshots is something we do when we don’t feel like looking ourselves or we think the problem is with the client. Please actually look at my problem because I only have half a day before I have to cancel my subscription here and go to another platform – this must work by tomorrow, it’s a really big project and “translation” is a feature that I expect to work…
    Amanda.

    Hello,

When I check your form, I did not notice any Autocomplete widget. If you are referring Translations section on form settings, you can easily fill in the missing translations.

Unfortunately, I am not able to see your screenshots. Please send us a screenshot of the issue. If you do not know how to send a screenshot to the support forum, please visit this guide. If you share your feedbacks with us, we can escalate your issues to our developers.

    Here you can check the related screencaps;

1613560069 602cf905b1aac screenshot Screenshot 10Here is a screenshot. As you can see, it is completely useless because the problem is that the questions are not there for me to translate. They are missing from the translation screen. You can see this if you open the form yourself and then also open the translation settings. There are several questions missing. I do not know what you want me to screenshot. The screenshot is not useful here. If you open the form and open the translation settings as I suggested in my first message, you will see that questions are missing. At least six questions are missing from the form. This is VERY BAD because it's poor programming and makes me worry about what else is missing - and the fact that you guys don't seem to care enough to actually read my responses and check to see what the actual problem is makes me really distrustful of this software.

The questions themselves are missing from the translation. I am not an idiot. I understand how to fill out the translations. Some of the questions are missing from the translation list. I cannot translate them, because they do not show up in the translations. I am really, really frustrated.
Check the form. Open the translation list and the form at the same time. You will see that the questions in the form are not in the list of translations. They cannot be translated because they are not there.
I do have the auto complete widget in my my form. It is on page 13. It is the five sets of questions after the list of words (as paragraphs). These questions do not appear on the translation list so I cannot translate them. PLEASE actually look at my form, and then actually look at the translations list. You will see that there are questions missing.
There is no need to send you screenshots (they were literally just screenshots of the translation screen where I typed “question is missing” because there is no way to send you a screenshot of something that is not there).
    These questions are missing from the translation screen: #input_664, #input_85, #input_108, #input_109, #input_110, #input_111
They cannot be translated. I need to translate them. I understand how translating works. They are not there to translate. If you open the form, and the translation settings screen, you will see this.

(Also obviously I KNOW HOW TO SEND SCREENSHOTS it's just completely useless to send screenshots of something that is not there?! Like what on earth do you want a screenshot of? The problem is super clear - if you open the translation settings, many questions are missing. I cannot translate them, which means this form is useless to my client, and I already told the client they could have a translated version because this is something that you offer, and I expect the things you offer to actually work)

We do apologize for the inconvenience.

Currently, it is not possible to translate the widgets(Autocomplete)items.

All other form field labels/items can be translated however, widgets cannot be translated to another language using the translation feature.

I have forwarded a feature request to our developers.

Please note that we cannot give an ETA when this feature would be added or will it be passed however, once we have updates, you will be notified at this support ticket.

    Thank you.

    1. I’m also missing a regular dropdown field which needs to be fixed ASAP (not a widget, regular dropdown field – that means there’s an error in the translation function)

    2. That’s totally not ok! You can’t offer a translation and then only make it available for some of the fields! I promised a client that I would be able to translate the form and offer it in multiple languages. This isn’t a missing feature, it’s a bug, and I’m sure I’m not the only one with a problem. Should I cancel? I can’t – in good faith – recommend using this service to clients if I know that it doesn’t actually work. As you can see, I have a lot of forms, and I pay quite a lot for a subscription. I also have at least two clients with their own accounts on here. I’m so frustrated! What good is half a translation?

I have moved the issue with the dropdown field translation to another ticket to assists you better.

    Kindly follow this link https://www.jotform.com/answers/2904290

We do apologize for the limitations on our Form translation.

I would suggest using the normal dropdown while the feature request is still on review so that your items/options would be translated.

    Thank you.
