Salesforce integration: Problems connecting custom objects

According to this page, https://www.jotform.com/help/321-mastering-salesforce-with-jotform , Salesforce now supports custom objects. This is a huge improvement for me, however, I’m not able to complete the set up. I’ve set up a form to log our volunteer’s hours. The first field in Salesforce is the name lookup field, so I’ve added a Find Record step to return the name based on the email, which is unique whereas name might not be unique. That step seems to work but when I try to connect the fields, I’m only able to map Volunteer Duty, which is a pick list. The other fields are grayed out on the Jotform side.

    Hello there,

Could you please try to re-integrate Salesforce with your form?

If a field is not included in the list of Salesforce fields you can match your form fields with, I would suggest that you create the field as a custom field in Salesforce.

Let us know how it goes.

    Thank you.

I retraced my steps and Salesforce is integrated correctly. The challenge
I'm facing is the Volunteer Log Sheet contains the same fields as in my
Jotform except the email. The name field in Salesforce is a lookup field,
so as I can't count on our volunteers to have unique names or to enter
their name exactly as it is in Salesforce, so I'm not sure how to populate
that field. I've tried connecting directly from Jotform without a Find a
Record step, but everything was greyed out, so I added the Find a Record
step to return the Contact Name. Then I'm doing a Find Record for the
Volunteer record that contains the Volunteer name as that is the field used
    in the Volunteer Log Sheet.

No, if you look at step three, the Jotform list is still grayed out. I can only match on the volunteer duty and can’t select the Volunteer name.
I’m working with three different records in Salesforce
Contact - which contains the email address
Volunteer Info - which uses a lookup field to populate the Volunteer Info Name and is linked to the Contact
Volunteer Log Sheet - this is intended to be used to post multiple records - one each time the volunteer works at our non-profit - I’ve listed the fields in that record in my earlier post. This record depends on a Lookup field for the Volunteer name after searching the Volunteer Info Name records.

    Hi,

A field is usually greyed out because it cannot be mapped, I believe look-up fields cannot be mapped since there is no field within Jotform of the same type.

Please let us know if you require any further assistance.

I think that’s why we were advised to use FormAssembly. I’ll just use a Google Sheet for this project. Hopefully that feature will be available in the future.

I solved this and identified the gap. Please delete or archive this thread, I'll be opening a new one.

@Cecile_A, I do not want to request a new feature. I have solved the issue on my own, although I did run into one minor issue that I can work around. Please refer to the new thread I set up explaining this. https://www.jotform.com/answers/2929304-unable-to-map-to-salesforce-custom-object-radio-buttons#2

@Basil_A, I've tested filling a Lookup field and found I did NOT need to use a Find Record function first. My assumption was incorrect, I have been able to populate a Lookup field with no issues, however, haven't tested this in real life, so we'll see. If someone enters a name differently than stored in SalesForce, e.g. Joe instead of Joseph, I expect we might have to clean those up manually. We'll see.
