Lightbox not working, and Feedback not showing up for IE8 users

    Asked by ryancole on June 08, 2011 at 01:02 PM

    As per the subject above. Both the lightbox and feedback button work for me on safari and firefox for mac, but not for most IE8 users. The notification button doesn't show up for them, and they can't click on the lighbox button. Here is the code:

    Hi Ryan,

    The feedback JavaScript file should be called only once in webpage to prevent conflicts.

    The bolded line above should appear only once in your page's source code. Delete that line in all of the succeeding feedback codes that you embed.

    Let me know how this solution works for you. Thanks.

    Thanks for the help thus far. Unfortunately that didn't seem to help. Maybe you can take a look at the new code and see if you see anyhting wrong. Thanks very much.

    Hi,

    The feedback button and lightbox form work perfectly fine on my end using IE 8. Can you describe what exactly it is that's happening on the page when viewing the site on your end? Does it come up with any error message?

    I think it's a little odd considering that it works flawlessly on my browser. Could it be that JavaScript is disabled on your IE browser?

    It's strange. It works on my computer with IE8 but not on my assistants computer. I also sent it to about 4 colleagues and it didn't work for any of them either. Essentially the red notifications tab on the right doesn't even show up for them, and the grey button on the bottom of the page doesn't do anything when they click on it.

    Hi,

    Upon further testing, it seems that the feedback and lightbox forms do not show up when viewed in IE8's Compatibility View.

    Removing the extra comma (,) after the iframe parameters solves this problem

    width: 400,height: 300,

    iframeParameters:{

    'website7':'134york'

    },

    });

    I apologize as I am the one who gave you those codes.

    Hi,

    I finally figured out the cause of your problem (or so I thought). The slideshow plugin is causing a conflict with the JavaScript responsible for the feedback and lightbox functions.

    Removing the slideshow shall do the trick, although I'm not sure if that is an option you'd like to take. Unfortunately, I can't see any other solution for this issue. You would either have to use just a single feedback/lightbox or disable your slideshow plugin.
