Subsequent edits made to a form submission (2nd and so on) no longer updates the corresponding PDF file on Dropbox

Asked by truckersamerica on June 12, 2011 at 02:32 PM

Last week, if I edited a form that was submitted, it would show up in my email as EDIT: New Submission. And just overwrite the exist file stored in Jotform and Dropbox.

Now it shows up as a new application and creates a duplicate PDF document in DropBox, along with adding an additional application to my count.

What needs to change or be corrected to fix this back to the way it was?

    Hi,

I made a test submit on your form and edited it three times. I did not get a new submission entry in the form but the original entry got updated every single time.

Of course I couldn't tell if the edits I made created duplicate PDFs in your dropbox account, but I tested on a sample form and it did not create a duplicated pdf. Instead, the pdf file got updated:

However, upon the 2nd, 3rd and subsequent edits, Dropbox failed to update the file. This is certainly a bug that needs to be fixed. With that in mind, I submitted a ticket to notify our dev team about the existence of this issue.

Feel free to add anything if I missed a detail. Also, please do check your dropbox account to see if the edits I made on the test submit on your form created duplicate pdf files. This is to know whether the problem is only  about the failure to update the pdf file or if there are multiple issues to this bug.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We look forward to your response.

I also noticed that because you edited the form, my number went from 41 to 45 forms used out of 100. If the form is edited, it should not be adding forms to the count. That is an existing form, yes?

    Hi,

Yes I can see that your submission count went to 45 from 41. I am not sure if it's supposed to be like that. I guess I would have to confirm with our developers.

Anyway, have you checked if the edits I made created new pdf entries in your dropbox account, aside from the one for the new submission entry?

I will wait for your response so I can add those details to the ticket.

I did not see any duplicate entries, so I guess we are good there.

Sorry for missing to update on this.  The issue regarding the PDF not updating on dropbox is now fixed.  All edited submissions will also resubmit and overwrite the PDFs with the updated information to dropbox.

    Thanks.
