Widgets: great tool, but some questions...Asked by BBIE on December 04, 2013 at 08:13 AM
I have had a quick look on the new widgets, and it looks really great.
Some of them will really enhance the quality of the forms, many thanks for that.
However, there is a list of more than 250 widgets, some of them being selfexplaning, but others would need some more explanations...Examples of why I should use some of them which are a bit obscure to me.
It seems that the grouping by categories does not group the right widgets. My feeling is that it positions the cursor somewhere in the list and then... shows random widgets.
Another question, which might seem a bit tricky... Why did you guys at Jotform add those widgets (which are certainly more than welcome fot the most of them...) BEFORE adding some basic functionality which is missing in Jotform and found in nearly any other form tool: online calculations... Very basic ones... like [Number of articles] * [unit price] = [price]...
Anyway, go on with this excellent job, but please think sometimes about really basic functionality we miss as users.
Thank you very much for your comments, we really appreciate it.
Now, if you find any widget confusing so that you don't know how to use it, feel free to contact us at our support forum and we will help you to understand how the widget works.
Our dev team has worked in many improvements lately and have realased many new features. We alreay have a calculation feature that can be used to calculate the ansewrs of the your questions/fields:
And our payment tools also have the capability to show the total of the the products the form users selects.
Please inform us if you need further assistance with this.
hanks for reporting the problem with the categories. I see what you mean. We will fix it immediately.
We do have calculations feature and we do infact support the type of calculation you need. You can add a calculation by clicking on the gear icon near a text or number field and then selecting "calculate field".
We have not announced this feature since we are still sorting out bugs. Please give it a try and if you have any questions I'd be happy to answer.
Thanks again for your reactivity. It really feels like Jotform is constantly working on remarks from users in order to make a better product. And Jotform is already great for the few last year... and just goes on with enhancings. Thanks for that.
One example of widgets which is not really clear to me (and this one should be very easy...), Google Analytics...
I use Google Snalytics on my websites, forums, etc... But I use to add some script on each page I need in my statistics.
For Jotform, the google ID is aaked.
Do I understand correctly that all visits to my forms will be mentioned in my Google reports...? This would be te goal of adding Analytics to a form...
I am surprised that in the Google Analytics Widget, there is a label field... Why would I use this label...?
Or is the working of Analytics not the one I guess it is...?
And thanks for your answer about the calculation field.
This is great. I did not yet see this. I guess it has been added recently.
Can you open separate threads for separate widgets? So that when necessary we can assign feature request or bug report tickets to those threads.
Here is how you can find out your Google Analytics ID:
I know my Google ID... The only thing is that I could not see the page tracked in Google Analytics.
Well I will open a new thread if I cannot find out how (and if) it works
In general, most widgets have the labels. You may disable them entirely if you feel that they are not needed in anyway. By clicking "Label" when the widget is selected and put "No" as the value. This should automatically disable the Label on most widgets.
Please let us know if you need further assistance. We will look forward on your thoughts on specific widgets when you have created a separate thread for each. Your feedback will help us improve the efficiency of our widgets. Thank you
