Hello Brian. We apologize for this inconvenience. I think this is not related to your email address but a problem on this specific form. I did manage to successfully replicate this issue on the form and it returns that error after submission. However, I tried to clone your form and did a submission from my end and it submits without problem.
Could you please try cloning this form and try to do a test submit on it? Please refer to this thread on How to clone existing form. If the cloned version of the form is submitted without problems, then please proceed to use this instead and re-embed this on your website Contact page. Please refer to Embedding a form to a webpage.
