    Voice Recorder Widget questions

    Hello,

    I love the Voice Recorder! We have tested it on more than one Mac computer and it works great! Please keep this available! It is so helpful for my business! We will continue testing on pc's and let you know what we find.

    Reading about some issues with this widget in the forum, is there something I can suggest to my clients to have active on thier computers to ensure this will work for them? 

    Also, another big question I have is - how long can a person record with the Voice Recorder Widget? I need to know this to be able to tell my clients how much time they have to record.

    Hello Vanessa,

    Thank you for trying Voice Recorder. It's nice to hear that it's useful for your business.

    You can suggest your clients to use modern browsers like Chrome and Firefox with Adobe Flash Player plugin installed. In most cases the plugin was already installed. Otherwise browsers will guide user to install plugin or widget turns itself to a file upload field.

    About your other question; recordings are limited to 5 minutes. If you need more please inform us. However a large recording means more waiting for form submissions and most of the time it would annoy users.

    I just completed a test on 2 pc's and the recording did not appear in the form submission. It worked with the Mac's we tested on but the PC's. Any idea of why or how we can fix this?

    We have improved browser and flash player detection in widget and tested both PC and Mac with various browsers.

    Widget is more stable now.

    Hi Hasan,

    That is great! I noticed some improvements. I am still having an issue when I use the widget from a pc. I am using Google Chrome or Firefox each time. 

    Here is what I am experiencing with the PC tests:

    -I fill in the form and create the voice recording. I can see the widget is working and the recording has been made. 

    -When I look at the form submission each time the voice recorder space is not listed on the form submission and the recording is not there.

    I am preparing to launch a form that this widget would make a huge difference with. Do you know how close your team is to stabilizing the widget on PC's?

    Hi Vanessa,

    I can't seem to reproduce the problem when I made a test just now. Could you please try to recreate the voice widget field?

    Here's my test:

    I am able to view it on email result as well.

    Hi!

    I just tested it on my mac and the recording did not show up in my submission.

    I have conditions set in my form that make the voice recorder appear. I notice in the form submissions I have tested where the voice recorder does not appear - that the whole oivce recorder area is not listed and other areas are. I wonder- is it possible I am having a conditions issue that is causing the voice recorder to not appear in my submissions?

    I had my dev create the conditions in my form. They have worked great. Not sure of how to figure this out. Any ideas?

    As I continue testing -

    My Mac - some of the Voice Recorder recordings show up in my submission and some dont

    My PC - none of the Voice Recorder recordings show up in my submission.

    I will give an update if I have any change from this...

    @ omliving 

    In addition, I have also noticed that in your form http://www.jotform.com/31741298570862 the voice recorder field is not set as a *Requred field -- there is a means to not use the recorder field that can result in your form not having the voice record data in the form's submissions.

    I suggest you set the field to mandatory to ensure that collection of voice recorded data is consistent.

    Hi!

    OMG it worked!! I changed the form so the Voice Recorder is required. I tested it on my mac and pc - and it works on everything! Yay!! Thank you so much :-)

    The last element I need help with is the legnth of the voice recording. I am a counselor and this form is for my clients to record a session message for me. I would like the widget to offer up to 10 minutes of recording to give my clients enough time to fully express themselves and what is happening in their lives. The current 5 minute limitation would not give enough time for them to be able to do this.

    Can you help me customize my voice recorder so it records up to 10 minutes?

    We're glad to know some requirements are already working.

    As for the feature on longer recording at least up to 10 minutes, may I suggest you create a separate post for it. This way I can properly submit the ticket request to our higher team support.

    I have this same problem of not receiving the voice recordings. I do not wish for the recording to be required as I want the submitter to be able to choose whether they write or speak their responses. Is there a proper fix for this please?
