How do I link one form through a button on another form?

Asked by Ken on June 15, 2011 at 02:12 PM

We have created 2 forms, the first is a customer registration form to create an account to buy our products, the second is a form for our vendors to register their companies and there is a required field on our customer account form for the customer to tell us which vendor they are connected with.  So, we need for every vendor form to automatically appear in the drop down box on the customer registration form so only registered vendors can be selected.  Please let me know how we can accomplish this.

    Hello Ken,

Let me get things straight first. What you want to do is to automatically add any vendor who registers (via the 2nd form - 'register your organization') to the dropdown list in your customer account form. Is this what you want to accomplish?

If yes, well unfortunately it cannot be done. Not from within Jotform, at least. I think there could be workarounds but they are more like solutions which would require some advanced web programming skills.

What I'm trying to say is that the workflow that you want to achieve is a little too complicated for Jotform to handle, and our Form Builder does not have a built-in function that will do just that.

Let me know if I was wrong in my understanding of your question or if you have other questions in mind.

One possible solution might be to use Send Post Data feature to get the submitted company names into a PHP script. Then use full form source code for your form in your site and use the same script to add the company names to the dropdown box dynamically.

Here is how you can get the form source code. Open the form on the Form Builder:

    1. Open "Setup & Share" tab on toolbar,

    2. Click on "Embed Form"

    3. Click on "Source Code" and copy the code provided.
