I have tried to use the calculate field and it does nothing. I also tried your form in the tutorial and it also does nothing, so I created a sample form and this also does nothing.
Has this feature been fully implemented yet, and replicated to all your servers?

Something strange is happening**
The form I mentioned in previous post was http://www.jotformpro.com/form/33238174698970. I tried over 2 days to get the calculate field to work and this sample form didn't work either - but TONIGHT IT DOES!
I also saw this example form on the forum and it works OK! http://form.jotform.co/form/33425581882864
So I cloned it and have changed fields and values to test how to make best use, and it works ALMOST OK. It recognises a drop down value like '10 apples' as value = 10 which is great.
***BUT***It does not recognise decimals in the input fields (it does in the calculation itself) so an input price of 12.5 * qty 10 results in 1250, not 125.
I will keep adding to this post if I discover more, but too late at night here to continue now ....

Sorry for the delayed response.
You are correct on the decimals issue on the calculate fields.
Currently, the calculate fields feature is not able to properly distinguish yet calculations of numbers that have decimal places.
I have elevated this to our higher team support so that it can be attended to.
We will notify you when updates are available about it.

Is there any update yet regarding using decimal points within calculation fields? The final calculation amount shows correctly when decimals are not used, but it would be extremely helpful to type them in!

While this thread is open and being looked at by our developer in the mean time you can use the "Number field" under "Quick Tools" to compute for decimals as the Text box fields reads its character as text but if you use the "Number field" it computes it as numbers. This is an alternative solution for now while waiting for the "Text box" field to be fixed.
You can use this sample https://secure.jotformpro.com/form/40134731898964.
