Turns out it was because I had set up the date so that users could not select dates in the past. It is a shame as I didn't want to allow past dates to be selected but its not worth the frozen calendar.

We are very sorry about the inconvenience. Please delete the current calendar field and add a new one. The problem should be fixed. Let us know if it still persist in your end
