Editing a submission doesn't trigger the Approval Flow

    Hello,

Is there a way to trigger the approval flow on an existing submission if it has been edited? For example, if I reject a submission and include the edit submission link in the response email to the submitter, the submitter addresses my comments and then clicks submit for review again. In this instance, I would want the approval workflow to rerun and prompt an approval, rather than having the submitter submit a whole new form. Right now, it appears that the approval flow only triggers on new submissions. Thank you!

Unfortunately, the Approval Process Workflow only works on an active process. And since editing a submission means it only updates an already-completed submission, it won't have trigger the flow.

Now, if there's a need to update a submission and at the same time trigger the flow, you can make use of the REQUEST ADDITIONAL INFO option in the approval email. Here's how:

Enable the option in the Approval properties shown below:

Then when the approver received the email, let him select request additional information:

And if there's a need to send the edit submission link to a different recipient, he can do so by modifying the TO: field in the email template above.

And that's it! After editing the submission, that he can then proceed with Approving the application.
