    Contact Form Online

Asked by SteveRedman on June 23, 2011 at 05:33 PM

I supplied a developer with the code generated for one of my forms and they uploaded the site. I now need to change the detail on the contact form and wanted to be able to change the form myself. Is it possible to create a new contact form and drop the code in place using Nvu or something similar ? Or is it possible to directly eddit the code within the site ? The only thing that needs to change is the email address notification.

    Please advise.

    Hi Steve,

While inspecting your site, I found out that the form was created under the account you're using right now, which is SteveRedman. I know you might be concerned about messing up the form if you change an aspect of it using the Jotform Form Builder.

You do not need to worry though. It is possible to change the email address notification directly within the Form Builder without affecting the appearance or functionality of the form embedded in your website. There is no need to mess around with the codes. Email alert settings are stored in our servers, not in the form codes embedded in your site.

Hope I was able to shed some light into your question. Do contact us again if you have further questions.

    Hi SteveRedman,

Thank you for your message. In order to avoid incurring any issues with form submissions, it is still best to make any changes in your forms using the JotForm online form editor. You can introduce new fields, make changes in the email address notification, etc from there and save the new form. Then get the embed form code.

But if you're an advanced user and you're working offline, you can also edit the form within the website code itself (depending on which feature of the form you want to edit). Note however that changes made outside the JotForm online editor will not be saved in the JotForm server. And exercise care when making changes offline in order to avoid future issues with form coding and data transmission.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Thank you for using JotForm!

Thanks... If I change the notification email address in form builder, how do I then embed the new form code into the site ? I don't have access to the programme the site was originated in as a developer did this for me. Can I upload to the server via ftp ?

    Sorry if this sounds stupid.

    Hi SteveRedman,

If you're going to change the notification email address only, there's no need to re-embed the embed code into your webpage. Just don't forget to save the form again right after you made the changes.
