Why does my unique entry in form limit not work properly?Asked by Gastenlijst on January 07, 2014 at 03:08 PMHi! Please can you check my forms? I've used the pass values through URL and it seems to work, except for 1 thing. I'll try to explain what I've done: - I've created a form that wil generate a unique ID. - this unique ID value is passed through URL to another form where this field is pre-filled - in the other form, I've set a rule that if that field is filled, it's hidden so it's not visible. - also this field should be unique (no duplicates) All seem to work except: When I set the rule, the unique code acts weird. Even if the passed through value is unique, it says it isnt. Please can you help me with this? My username is: gastenlijst Thanks!
Upon checking your form settings, the URL Parameters and the results, all seems to work fine as expected.
On this form: http://www.jotform.co/form/40064011487850. The BOSS field cannot generate a unique numbers itself because you have it as normal textbox. Its uniqueness depends on the Unique ID field on the first form.
Everything is good. Kindly check again.
Hi! Thank you for checking my forms. Unfortunately it still doesnt work properly. You are correct about the uniqueness of the fields. Those settings are fine. BUT... I've created a rule: when the BOSS field is filled (what happend automatically, when you fill in the first form) with the unique code, this field is hidden. When I set this rule, it gives this message:Sorry! Only one entry is allowed. Multiple submissions are disabled for this form. Multiple submissions are disabled for this form. When I dont set that rule, everything works fine.
The problem is, once the field is hidden thru condition, the field will become blank. It's data will be cleared, in other words, the form will be submitted blank. This is also the reason why you get the "only one entry is allowed" error since there is already an existing "blank" submission submitted for that field. Keep in mind that "blank" or "empty" is also counted on unique submissions.
To resolve that, don't hide the field when it's field, instead make it ReadOnly so it can't be edited.
Here's how to make a field readonly.
Hope this helps. Thanks!
