Offline mode improvements

    Hi, I fill some of my forms offline but I found a little problems with it!


    1. When a form is offline ready, and open selecting fill form, it's open with the mobile data or wifi connection, not in offline.

    2. If the mobile data is turn on but there is not access to the internet (the mobile data quota is over), and you try to fill the form, an error is displayed and it's not possible fill the form.


    For reproduce this error you need:

    1. turn on the mobile data.

    2. The form is necessary to be ready for fill in offline.

    3. Not access to internet.


    3. To do the fill of form work properly in offline is necessary turn off the mobile data or turn on the airplane mode.


    So my suggestion is an option in the displayed menu when a form is selecting, "fill the form in offline" and when the form is submitted the mobile data automatically will load the submissions, but basically the form will be filled in offline.

    Please note that if you have set the form in offline mode, you can access the form even if the mobile does not have any internet connectivity. If the phone has internet connectivity, it pushes the data to sever when submitted. There is no option to prevent online usage of the form if it is configured in offline mode.


    2. If the mobile data is turn on but there is not access to the internet (the mobile data quota is over), and you try to fill the form, an error is displayed and it's not possible fill the form.

    Ok, so this isn't totally true. I uploading a video where you can see what happened to the app when a Internet connection failed.


    1. If the app is opening when the mobile data is on but the internet connection failed, the app will be freeze.

    2. If the mobile data is on but internet connection failed and you select fill a form offline available, there a error.

    3. For to do work properly you need turn off the mobile data option.

    Hello,

    Thank you for providing a video of the issue. I can see that you are referring to the error loading page when you are trying to access the offline form:

    I can recreate the issue from my end, and to my understanding, you are unable to access the form when the data connection is enabled on the device but you don't have a network connection available, correct?

    The error is due to the form trying to load it through a network connection since it data connection is enabled on the device. But if you are going to disable the data connection or WiFi, the offline form will load and will not try to pull data from the network as it is should be available offline.

    For offline forms to load without a connection, the data or WiFi option on the device should be turned off or 'Go Offline' so that the app will not try to pull data through the internet as it will just show a 'time out' error in loading the form.

    Yes.

    Ok, I understand that is the expected from the app in that scenario.


    Additional, when you exced your quote of the data plan, and you try to fill a form you have other error (not time out error), altrouhgt I'm unable to reproduce in this moment because I still have data plan. So this error is expected from the app too?


    So, I can suggest a option for open a form ever in offline, although the mobile data still turned on.

So this error is expected from the app too? — Can you test the form again when your out of data plan and send us a screenshot of the error?

    If you have data turned on and you consumed the data while still loading the form, it is expected to see that error. You just need to switch off the data so the app knows you are in offline mode. As long as the form has the offline mode turned on, it should load.
