Approver add information when approving form

I am trying to create a reimbursement request form. I have the form created and have a workflow created but what I need is at one state of the approval the Treasurer needs to add the check number and date delivered to the form. I have scoured the boards and the web but can't seem to find a way to have this done.

Hello! You can provide an 'edit submission' link in your approval email. Your Treasurer can click this link, fill in the check number along with any other information and re-submit the form. Following is how you can add the edit link to the submission:

Okay, that makes sense. But it they re-submit the form does it start the approval flow over again? Or can I put in the approval flow that they get an email to edit the form, they enter the new data, sign and submit?

So we tried that but when the treasurer edits the form it starts the approval process over at the beginning and it makes her sign the initial form instead of the original submitter
