How can I use a dropdown for states in the address fieldAsked by shmuelhonig on January 21, 2014 at 11:48 AM
If we are using an address field that has multiple sub-fields, is there a way to make the "State/Province" sub-field into a drop down to choose from state/province names? Thanks.
The state/province sub-field of the address field is a text box because there are multiple countries to choose from and we cannot possibly include all provinces/states from all countries in the world.
The best workaround I can suggest to you is to remove this state sub-field and add a separate drop-down for it.
Here's how it should look:
To remove the state sub-field, simply select the address field, click the "Fields" button then uncheck State.
We also have predefined US states for dropdowns to make it easier for you.
Let me know if you need more help. Thanks!
Thanks. Is there any way to move the new state drop down field so that it appears in the proper place, i.e. not after the country drop down?
I am not so sure about that, because all those sub-fields are enclosed in an HTML table.
We will try to find a CSS solution for you. We'll inform you if there are any.
Is it possible for users to add their own predefined list - just like you have for US states?
What I would like is for users to be able to select state based on their country. I appreciate not being able to provide all states for all countries, but I would like to add in options for Australia and the US, and if neither of these are selected, allow the user to manually input their state (ie. If their country is not one of these two?)
