Why am I not allowed to save edits to my forms? It is very important that this works and It hasn't for 2-3 months now. (2nd Posting)

Asked by LightHouseSF on January 27, 2014 at 03:10 PM

I have tried changing browsers, and even computers; I have cleared caches, all of these permutations. With each attempt of each permutation, it still does not work properly. I have been editing these forms in one window, so that is also not the problem. I took all the advice that you have replied to me with. All remains the same; not working properly. I just tried posting this in the forum a few minutes ago, as a private question and I got the reply that Jotform is unavailable. I’m not sure if this even posted, so I’m reposting it. This time I’ll make it a public question as opposed to a private one, that way I can check to see if it actually posted. Thank you.

Your situation is a peculiar one, as we have not had any complaints of not being able to save form edits for a long time.

May I ask if the computers you were using run under the same network?

    Neil Vicente from Jotform,

The majority of the computers that I’ve used have been on the same organization network. I have looked into that. So I tried my computer at home just to see if there was correlation due to network. I also used a friends computer. My personal computer is a PC and my Friends is a Mac. I’ve tried many permutations. I am exasperated. Our deadline is coming up and I have wasted so many days trying to work around this issue. Please help. Thank you.

    @ LightHouseSF

I checked  your account and found your forms ALL disabled

I do not know the reason yet why have disabled them, but you probably should enable first the form that you want to edit/update.

Please try this and update us of the results.

    Thanks!

Yes I did, like 20 minutes ago. I do not want clients to submit anything yet until this problem is resolved. This has absolutely nothing to do with the current problem that has been going on for 2 months now, before my disabling 20 minutes ago.

This is not a part of the problem. Thank you kindly!

I am forced to hit the save button after each minute change, the form blocks me from saving, and I have to close the form and re-enter just to attempt to get anything saved (such as part of a sentence, or even two words). It seems like the form is trying to "beat me to the punch" before I can properly save. Your auto-save, is the auto-blocker! It is as if it senses when I want to save a small important change and goes to autosave before I can even hit the save button, and it stays on autosave and it does not stop. I am blocked. There is not a incremental time of your auto save to kick in, so that is no relation, this happens at a random interval and always. Even when I am not making any changes the autosave kicks in and does not stop and I cannot save. Even some of the changes that do try to get in by hitting save before the autosave is not always saved. This is disconcerting, frustrating, and my deadline is in a few days. Please stop trying to make it seem as if it is my technical negligence or ineptitude that is causing the problem. Thank you.

We apologize for any incovenience this has caused you. We do understand your frustration due to this.

If I understand the current situation now, you are able to now reach EDIT a form?

Because you mentioned now that it is the autosave or save option where you are currently having issue.

You can enable/disable the Auto Save option by opening the Form Actions by clicking on an empty space canvass in the form. Refer to image below.

Inform us if this makes any difference or not.

    Thanks.

    Correction:

To pull out the Form Actions option you have to Right-Click on the empty space in the form canvass.

    Thanks.

So now I have disabled the auto save, the auto save is not popping up randomly preventing me from saving in that way, however we still have the same issues with saving. When I hit the save button, it is still a hit and miss (more misses then hits) if it will actually save any edits. In other words, I hit the save button and the button becomes active (the spinning symbol on the save button showing that it is active) and will not shut off unless I close the actual form and then reenter it, which means that the corrections that I have just made were not saved. So now that we have addressed the random auto save variable by the shutting off the autosave, we still have issues with having reliable consistant saving. So through deduction, I think that it is not the autosave function exclusively, which lets you now know that it is the actual function of saving in general (autosave and regular save) that is having the issue.  Please address this for me soon. Thank you.

    Hello,

We appreciate your patience in resolving this. The reason why this is taking long is because we cannot reproduce what you are experiencing, we we would nonetheless want you to continue with your work as soon as possible.

Are you able to edit your forms when you log in through this link

    Please let us know.

I have checked your 'Provider's Weekend Session' form and found 66 fields on it, this is quite a big amount of fields. Please note that the form saving process is saving everything, even small change will lead to the full saving into database. It means that the form saving might take some time especially on some long forms. When you click on the save icon you should wait until spinning symbol is going off, otherwise the form will not be properly saved.

I am going to escalate a ticket to our Development Team to see if we can improve the saving process. We can not provide any ETA at this time, but we will let you know once we have any news.

I do realize that the saving process takes a long time based on the size of the form. This problem affects all of my forms not just the Providers Weekend Form. I have waited a very long time for the forms to save, thinking that that they may slow down the process because of the size. I have even hit save, walked away for a considerable amount of time, then came back to see that it is still doing the same thing. I will still continue to try because at this point with my deadline I have no choice.

This is really strange since we are not facing any major issues with forms savings. The issue might be related to your browser, computer, internet service provider or something else.

I have created a test form on your account, but I was not able to reproduce any saving issues.

    Please see the following video:

We would like to recommend you to check the form builder using the following addresses:

    1. https://www.jotform.com - SSL address of our website.

    2. http://custom.jotform2.com/ - Version that bypasses some CDN content.

Is there are any differences when you are saving the forms via these sites?

The problem still exist in batches but less now. This issue is not completely solved, I will observe today and tomorrow morning. If there are any increases in this issue or a resolve, I will let you know by then. The reason I cannot tell that it is resolved is due to the glitches popping up without any true consistancy. Each day is frustrating, but some more and some less than others. I will continue to observe and I request that you also observe so that we can quickly remedy this issue. Thank you.

Just to clarify, I am still having saving issues. A decrease does not mean that it is gone. Just a moment ago I just had to leave my form and go back into it to try to save. I do appreciate that you are actually looking into this.

    @LightHouseSF

We are sorry to hear that, but I'd like you to know that we are doing our best to investigate the cause of the problem.

May I ask you to please try creating a blank form? Afterwards, add a field or two, then try to save it.

Let me know if saving won't work even on this small form.
