Is there a Widget that Allows me to set an Unique ID on the Form

Asked by s.whitelaw@silverstrand.com.au on January 30, 2014 at 01:26 AM

I need to be able to set a reference number sequence for tracking. This number would be provided on the Notification or sent confirmation screen. Is their a widget that can provide this kind of thing???

    Cheers

    Sarah,

The Unique ID widget is probably what you're looking for. This widget generates an incremental identifier for each form submission, and can be displayed on the notification/autoresponder or Thank You message.

    Hi Sarah,

To confirm, you would like the unique ID to also be shown on the form itself and not just the thank you page?

Unfortunately, this is not possible at this time. The reason is that it is not practical or possible. It is not known whether a user will (or how fast they will) complete a form. If three people load the form and it shows them UID_1,UID_2 and UID_3 and then the second person does not complete the form, there will be a gap in the ids. This is exactly the opposite of what the unique ID feature is designed to do. People expect the uids to be sequential.

The request has been previously made and our devs team may explore another way to accomplish this in the future. For the time being unique IDs are determined at the time of form submission in which case they can't be displayed within the form itself.

Please inform us if you need additional assistance.

    Thank you.
