Revisions History: Scroll bar isn't visible

Asked by NRCsupport on February 09, 2014 at 03:03 AM

Your revisions facility is great. But I've noticed a sligtly odd behaviour. The scroll bar on the list of revisions has no top arrow or handle when first opened. You can scroll up with the bottom arrow and eventually the handle comes into view. If you pull the handle up (to scroll back down), it eventually disappears behind the title bar, but can still be pulled till the list is back in its original position.

It seems that the scroll bar is too long and is partly covered by the title bar, but it remains active even in the invisible area.

    Hi John,

I can't seem to reproduce the problem. Specifically in what browser that strange behaviour occurs? I can browse the revision list from top to bottom without any issue. We'd also appreciate if you could provide screenshots.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I can't work out how to put a screen shot in here. When I paste, it fills the whole message window and overwrites my text

I have the problem in FF26 and IE11. If you look at your screen shot, the scroll bar on the list of revisions has no "top" to it. In your case the handle is long and projects into the visible area, so you can pull it. In my case the handle is short (presumably because there are a lot of revisions), and is hidden behind the horizontal bar above (In your case the area showing Terms of Use). I can scroll with my mouse wheel, or by clicking the visible part of the scroll bar and eventually the handle comes into view and can then be used. Once the handle is there, it is possible to drag it right back up to the top, even though it becomes invisible when it is behind the horizontal bar.

I normally scroll using the handle, so it is difficult for me when it is hidden.

In looking at this further, I find that there is also a problem with the large panel showing the form. The bottom part of the form (just the submit button in my case), and the horzontal scroll bar are never in view. Also the bottom end of the vertical scroll bar is never in view.

It looks to me as though both the troublesome panels appear to be occupying a space slightly larger than the frame in which they are located.

Above line is link to screenshot on tinypic.com

You will see that the vertical scroll bar for the list panel as no "top" and no visible handle.

Also for the middle panel, the vertical scroll bar has no "bottom" and there is no horizontal scroll bar. That panel is scrolled as far up as it will go, but there is little more at the bottom which is not visible.

    @NRCsupport

Thanks for the additional details. I have now escalated this problem to our developers for a check. I suspect this occurs a device with lower resolution or probably on the screen size. However, I can identify the problem on both of my browsers but they are all scrollable and visible on the screen unlike the one on your screenshot.

You will be informed here once our developers made any corrections on the revisions wizard.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

    Regards!
