Narrative fields are gone when restoring a previous version of a form.

Asked by kiwispin on February 09, 2014 at 06:22 PM

    Hi team

Am wondering if you are having issues with your revision system.

I have been working on a form with multiple 'narrative fields', and when I needed to go back to an earlier version, although it shows the narrative-fields in the revision window, they are no longer there when I go to 'Edit' or to view my form.

I am hoping I am not having to re-do all of those, so if you could advise on what might be the issue & a solution, that would be fantastic.

    Many thanks.

    thanks solution earlier version all

    Hi,

If this is the form http://www.jotform.com/40298158508158 in question, were you referring to the TextArea fields as the "narrative-fields"?

The latest version of the form http://www.jotform.com/40298158508158 contains multiple TextArea fields. Are there suppose to be more such fields missing on this version of the form?

I also suggest you do a backup copy of your complex form to be more safe that your preferred version will not be lost. Use this guide to have a copy.

    Hi there

Yes, there is supposed to be 'Narrative Fields' interspersed between the TextAreas, like this form ... http://form.jotform.co/form/40396654752866  (This is what the form you linked did look like before I tried to go back in time. I'm in the process of rebuilding it currently in this new form)

If I go back into the revisions of the form you link, the narrative fields do actually show. But when I close the revision panel, the narrative fields disappear, giving me the form with everything but the Narrative fields.

    Very strange!

I actually, as a test, just did a simple form with a heading, a text area and a narrative field.

Once I went to the revision panel and went back in time, again I lost my narrative fields.

So this is possibly a bigger issue?

    Hi,

I apologize for the delays. After doing further test, I was able to reproduced the issue you had stated.

The Revision History it seems was not able to retain the Narrative Fields widgets on the form once you execute revert on the form's previous version.

I will submitt a bug ticket regarding this to our higher team support so that it can be investigated the soonest time possible.

For the mean time, I can only suggest that you try not to use the Revision history feature on your forms that contains Narrative Fields. What you can do instead is create multiple copy version of your forms to allow you to go back to specific versions that you need. You can use the form cloning feature to have multiple copy version of the form.

We will notify you via this thread on any update on the status of this report.
