Email alerts: unable to receive notifications into Iphone

Asked by chrisjaeger on July 07, 2011 at 10:22 PM

About a week ago, for unknown reasons, my iPhone started getting messages, like text messages, every time I got a Jotform. I did not change any settings, that I'm aware of. Now I actually LIKE it but I'm curious as to where that setting is? I couldn't find it on my iPhone under Settings like all the other apps have settings. No Jotform there. Anyway, not complaining, just curious. Also, have you ever thought of an affiliate program. I've probably sent 20 people here and they all love it and thanked me. Thanks. Hi Chris,

Have you been to this forum thread? If the answer is yes, you might have used your mobile provider's email-to-sms feature.

Upon inspecting your forms, however, I cannot see any recipient email address that follow any of the formats listed in that forum topic, although I can see that a lot of your forms have your Gmail as the recipient address.

I maybe making crazy assumptions here, but could it be that you have used the email-to-sms address in the forwarding option of your Gmail account?

It could also be that you have created a filter to forward emails received from Jotform only. You might want to look it up to check if my hunch is correct.

Anyway, with regards to affiliate programs, I think it has been requested for quite a few times. I am not sure though where our higher ups stand regarding that request. I think it would be a nice incentive to our users who recommend our product to other people.

As I am not privy to the real status of that request, all I can say is that if ever an affiliate program is implemented, it will be announced majorly, complete with balloons and a parade (kidding).

We would like to thank you for your efforts in spreading the awesomeness that is Jotform. Thank you as well for being a very loyal customer.  If you have any other concerns or queries, please let us know. We look forward to lending you a helping hand again. Thanks!

    Hi Chris,

In addition to what NeilVicente has shared, it could be possible that you have accidentally installed the JotForm App in your iPhone device. I know it sounds absurd but it may have been overlooked.

    Thank  you for using JotForm!

Hi. I don't have any filters set up for this in gmail and as you notice I am not forwarding the form to my ATT mobile phone number (@txt.att.net), but strangely enough, I did read that thread awhile back and tried it from my GMAIL account. I sent a text message from the GMAIL SMS option (left column) to myself (my iPhone). It worked pretty cool. I'm wondering if that somehow triggered something. I do not have any filters specifically for this (Jotform) in my GMAIL. I use GMAIL as my email box (as you've probaby guessed by now). I'll poke around my GMAIL some more. The message on my phone looks like it's coming from Jotmail (not GMAIL). Also, they are NOT showing up as text messages (SMS). If they were, they would be in my text message app. and I'd see them all there. These are just like push notifications I get from some of the other apps I have. They just flash on the screen. Weird. Thanks for your prompt follow-up. Chris

Oh yes. I did install it on my iPhone. But usually an app has an option for push notifications on/off. Also, it's been on my phone for awhile, but I just started getting notifications recently. Maybe it's because I authenticated (logged in via the app) and that triggered it. Again, as I mentioned earlier, I don't see any setting for Jotform in my settings app/icon like I see for others. Thanks. Chris

    Chris,

Well in that case, Allan's hunch was correct. The messages you're receiving came from the iPhone app that you have installed.

OK... this is starting to make sense. I downloaded and installed the iPhone app thinking it just let me login and SEE my inquiries. Actually, it has built in notification (push). So the reason I probably was not getting the notifications in the past was because even though I had the app on my PC, I hadn't really authenticated it by logging in. So probably I did log in... and voila. Now I'm getting push notifications. I stay logged in (iPhone app) until I logout. This makes perfect sense. Your iPhone app is not just a "look up" recent forms and old forms submitted, it's a push-notification system (automatically). I'm good with that. If I don't want the notifications to push to my iPhone screen - just logout of the app. This sounds like the solution to my original question. Thanks! Chris

Our iPhone app has push notifications feature but notifications was not working due to an outdated certificate. We have fixed this issue recently, that's why you have started to receive notifications on your phone.

You can disable this feature anytime by going to Settings => Notifications Menu on your iPhone.

I've also had this problem in the last 24 hours. Notifications have been working well with no problems for the last few months, and suddently, I noticed a lack of respondents. Alerts are arriving by emails only now. I've reinstalled the app a couple of times and ALL notifications are turned on - any ideas?

Any updates? After all it worked for so long... If this helps, the app always crashed on my iphone 4s each time it was launched. At the moment it stopped crashing, the notifications were gone. I assume someone did something to fix the issue but caused the problem with pushes.

I would also like to remind you about this. I think there are many of us who have waited for iPhone update. Still not getting notifications and the app is starting to crash and malfunction too. So please please please update it before you lose more users because of this. iPhone is such an important device nowadays so you need to have the apps that are working smoothly. Anyhow, JotForm main features are great, so keep up the good work and get this done too! ;) Thanks for reading.
