Asked by ProjectMajor on February 13, 2014 at 11:14 AM

Ive attached an image showing  what a standard email from a submission looks like. I would like for it to appear  with just the selections they choose.

    Hi,

You can easily hide the empty question so that they don't appear in the email notification by enabling the Hide Empty Fields on Email function. To enable it simply follow these steps:

    1. While editing your form in the builder click on Setup & Embed tab in the top toolbar.

    2. Then, select Preferences.

    3. Click on Advanced Settings tab.

    4. And finally, choose Enabled from the dropdown field.

Kindly let us know if you need further assistance with this inquiry.

    Thanks

    Hi,

One thing that I missed to explain, and I sincerely apologize for that, is that if you edit the the content of the table in the notification body, then the Hide function will not hide the empty questions. As explained by my colleague NeilVicente in this thread: http://www.jotform.com/answers/246920

So, if you have edited/changed the content of the table, that could be the cause of the wrong functioning of the Hide function.

If this is not your what is happening in your case, kindly provide further details on how you are experiencing the issue so that we can provide a solution or an alternative workaround.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Base on my findings on your notification, I found out that you made some changes in your notification which is the reason why "Hide Empty Fields on Emails" doesn't worked.

    This is your current notification.

As you can see, {device} tag is shown at the very first instead of under {Email38} field.

So, in order to fix the issue, I would suggest you to delete your current email notification and create a new one.

Feel free to contact us again if you need further assistance.

Not sure how I would do that and then set it up again.

    Hello ProjectMajor,

When you edit your form's notification, it becomes dirty. That means after editing the notification alert, any fields/question you add / remove from your form will not be reflected automatically in your notification and needs to be done manually. Please be noted that "Hide Empty Fields on Email" will only work if the notification email template is not edited.

As my colleague have mentioned that the most convenient way to solve this problem is to delete your notification and add a new one.

Here is a guide to help you delete the notification:  http://www.jotform.com/help/132-How-to-Delete-Notifications-Autoresponder

And, this will help you create a new notification:  http://www.jotform.com/help/25-Setting-Up-Email-Notifications

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you!
