    dropbox file

Asked by earnmygifts on July 08, 2011 at 02:57 PM

I created a page and I tested it with dropbox integration and it works fine.

    www.earnmygifts.com/drop

Someone uploaded a file to me this morning (see attached) and I got the notification email, the PDF showed up in the directory of by computer’s dropbox, the video file that they uploaded was in my jotform submissions – but the video file is not in my drobox online or on my computer.

    What went wrong?

    Hi earnmygifts,

Thanks for sharing your concern. Can you verify and confirm if you have enough space in your DropBox account to accommodate the video file uploaded by your guest? Kindly update us so that we can assist you further.

Yes I have more than enough space. I have 2 gig available in my dropbox.

I tested it again yesterday with a small file and it uploaded to dropbox no problem. THen I uploaded a large file and it uploaded to jotform but in my dropbox I only got the pdf. It has been 24 hours and nothing.

Please help. THe only reason I created this was to make it easy for others to send large files to my dropbox. Small files could be emailed.

    Thanks

    Hi earnmygifts,

Thanks for your response. Since you mentioned that your JotForm account was able to receive the video clip and your DropBox account didn't, it is a good idea to consult DropBox's Support Team regarding this issue. You must clarify with them the following:

    - What are the file extensions that DropBox supports? Can you add the ones not accepted by default?
    - What is the maximum file size that DropBox can accept (to my knowledge it is 300MB but it might have changed)?

Please keep us updated with your communication with DropBox. Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Thank you once again for using JotForm!

    Ok I have been testing:

Dropbox allows 350MB per file and the biggest file I have tried to upload is 150MB

I uploaded a file that was 34MB - went to dropbox almost instantly

I uploaded a file that was 90MB - went to jotform but only pdf went to dropbox - no file (has been 24 hours)

both were the same file type

You have others on the forum that have this same issue and I have not seen any that have been resolved.

I have the form as an iframe at www.goldeneagleregion.com/drop as was suggested in one post - but that did not help.

I don't care if it takes a while to download to my computer, but according to other posts from your support - even a 1 gig file should take only about an hour to be received by dropbox in the online account.

I have 2 gig free space right now in my dropbox account.

Please help - the only reason I got your servece was to allow people to easily send me large files to my dropbox. Small files can just be emailed.

    Thanks

Thanks for performing those tests and sharing the results with us. Can you also please try to upload the said video clip to your dropbox account and see if it still fails to upload completely? Let us know how it goes.

While doing that, I shall endorse this particular issue to our developers for further investigation and testing. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Ok - Now the last 2 files i uploaded not only didn't upload to dropbox, they didn't even upload to my jotform account.

One was 47mb and one was 52 meg. I was testing to see if 50mb was the limit on not going to dropbox.

Please help - this is only getting worse and I haven't changed the form at all since it was working.

I still have plenty of space on your service and dropbox.

I am having the same problem. I uploaded a 100mb file on Friday and it still has not sync'd over to Dropbox's website. I've consulted with Dropbox and they have assured me that the problem isn't on their end. I currently have a premium account with them for 50GB's. I've been able to successfully receive files up to 50mb but the 100mb tests have not been successful and it's been over 72 hours now.

I've also posted my problem on this thread with more detail. http://www.jotform.com/answers/33608-Having-an-issue-with-large-files-and-Dropbox-integration-#0

    Please help me.

I am a freebie in html and making forms.  I made 1 form that allows the user to upload a file, for example .doc.  I only allowed the following formats: .doc, .docx, .pdf.  and put a size limit.  I tried myself for a test.  I received the email notification and the filename (link) of the uploaded file.  It's only a .doc (less than 10 characters of 1 page) file.  When I opened it, it gives me only a zip file with XML files.  I didnt find the one that i uploaded.

Kindly help me.  thanks a lot.

We apologize for this missing to update this thread.  There had been updates for the past years/months and if I'm not mistaken, this matter was resolved.  Noting that other file uploads are actually not 'not forwarding' but more of a delay of the transfer.  Large file sizes take time to transfer from JotForm to Dropbox, and also takes another length of time transfering from Dropbox to one's account.

Also, dropbox seems to have a limit of 150MB per transfer.  So there is a huge possibility that files going beyod this size may not get received by the dropbox account.

But if this is not the case and if the issue still persists, please do let us know.

    Thanks.
