How do you or I check to see if the auto responder is sending the emails out?

Asked by SandraAPSA on February 19, 2014 at 03:33 PM

I set up an automatic email alert on my application form. When a student is  inputting information on the form, it includes entering a teachers email address. After the application is submitted, an email is sent to the student thanking them for applying and another email is sent to the teachers whose email addresses are included in the submitted application.  There is a separate link in the auto response email to the teachers with instructions for the teacher.

How do you or I check to see if the auto responder is sending the emails out? I received a couple of email asking for instructions because the teacher did not receive the link from the autoresponder I set up. Others received the link without a problem.

Is this something that can be check? If not, how do I fix this problem. WE have over 120 submissions with 2  recommenders email address listed in each, some emails were sent and if others  were not how do I correct it without manually going through 120 submissions and sending separate instructions to 240 email addresses.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting us.

Always ask your form respondents to check their spam mail, this is because each person may have customized settings that could send the mail there.

While there is no real delivery confirmation method that you can access with the default noreply@jotform.com, you may opt to add a sender's email address or SMTP that will give you this flexibility.

Using third party services like Mandrill or MailJet, you could send the Autoresponder email through them by setting up an SMTP relay.

For instance, using Mandrill or MailJet, you can log in to your SMTP  account and view:

    1. How many emails were sent out

    2. Whether the emails were opened or not.

Does this help? Please let us know.

Basically, there is no way to tell if the auto responders were sent. Thanks I will ask them to check their spam.

    Thanks for the feedback Sandra.

You are right, there is no way of checking this.

If you send your autoresponders through SMTP services like Mandrill or MailJet - you are able to log in and look at how many emails were sent, how many were opened, and how many bounced back.

Go ahead and check them out.

    Thanks.

Thanks but it’s too late. I have 240 email to resend to make sure they received the instructions from the email.

I am confused. Isn’t Mail chimp for newsletters. I am using a customize application form on jotform. Can MailChimp track auto responders instead?

    Hello SandaraAPSA,

MailChimp does have feature to track auto-responders but I am not sure how useful it will be for your requirement. MailChimp’s event-based triggers let you send auto-responders based on opens, clicks, purchases, and other factors you select in your emails.

As my colleague TitusN have suggested, you may like to use mandrill.

    Thank you!
