Can I send out more than one autoresponse message on the same submission?
If the user fills in some sections of the form, I need to send them some additional information, relating to their particular selections. If I can only send one autoresponse, then I shall have to create individual messages for each possible combination of conditions, whereas if I can send multiple messages, then I can do one message for each value of each condition, and send the appropriate set of messages.

You can send multiple auto-responder email to your users.
To achieve your requirement, you should add conditional auto-responders in your form which will send emails only when conditions are met. You can create one or more email notification alerts with different email content/template and send it based on a condition.

Thanks. Ok, I see how to create multiple autoresponder emails, but I am not sure how to set the conditions.
I want to have 4 different messages. I want to send message1 in all cases, message2 only when conditionA is true, message3 only when conditionB is true and message4 only when conditionC is true.
Thus each submitter will receive 1, 2, 3 or 4 emails depending on the answers to certain questions.
Will the following sequence in the conditions block work:-
If (some condition that is always true) send message1
If conditionA send message2
If conditionB send message3
If conditionC send message4
or will it only send one of the messages depending on the last condition it found to be true?

Yes the above sequence will work just fine. It will send all auto-responder emails if the conditions are true. For sequence 1, you do not have to create any conditions as it needs to be sent in all conditions. I have created a sample demo form which will reflect exact same sequence which you have mentioned above. That should help you understand it better.
Please take a look at the following form and see if this is what you want to achieve: http://form.jotformpro.com/form/40531427857962
The above form has a check box which has three conditions. I have added 4 auto-responder to this form out of which message 1 will be sent in all cases and the rest of the messages will be sent in the exact same sequence you have mentioned above. You just need to select the checkbox for the condition to be set to true.
Feel free to clone the above form for closer look. The following guide should help you in form cloning: http://www.jotform.com/help/42-How-to-Clone-an-Existing-Form-from-a-URL

Wonderful. That is exactly what I want. And it is useful to know that I don't need a condition for messages which must always be sent.
Thank you so much.
