How to calculate tax in payment tool?

Asked by bto09 on February 24, 2014 at 08:36 PM

...Ok so after going to the point of creating a product (which I don't need) I see the tax options come after that.  I need to be able to calculate tax or add a percentage on a custom amount that is entered by the person using the form.  Any chance this will be possible some time soon?

    Hello bto09,

Unfortunately, there is currently no way of add a tax component in our payment tools.

If you are okay to be redirected to paypal checkout page when the user submits the form, you can setup tax within your PayPal account. The following guide should help you:  https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/Marketing/shipping/EasyCalculateShipAndTax-outside

Another workaround is to add a separate product in your payment field and label it "Tax". You can calculate the tax amount manually and add the price in payment tool. You should also mark this product as required and selected by default.

A feature request is already submitted to our back end team. I am creating a similar ticket for you as well so that you will be notified whenever this feature gets implemented.

    Thank you!

    Thanks so much!!!

Is there any way you find out whether this feature will be implemented? I'd rather hold-off on the form implementation if there is some hope that the tax feature will be added. I'm not a dev but it seems somewhat simple (relative to the other features you offer) to include a tax feature so I'm hoping it's sooner rather than later :).

    Hi,

The feature request has been already forwarded to our dev team, and it's been assigned to one of our developers.

We could not give you any ETA about the implementation of this feature, but rest assured that if gets implemented we will update you via this thread as soon as possible.

    Thanks

    Hello cheekyface,

Upon checking the feature request ticket, I found that it is already assigned. That means our back end team is already working on this feature.

As my colleague have mentioned above, we can give you an ETA on this but we will get back to you as soon as we have any update from our back end team.

    Thank you!

    Hi,

We are happy to inform you that it is now possible to add sales tax to your Paypal or Purchase Order form.

You can also specify tax-exempted products and even enable location-based tax surcharges.

Kindly give it a try and let us know what you think.

Having trouble locating these options?  Can you tell us where this is supposed to be?  I've tried adding the paypal payment and purchase order widget but there is no option to add tax anywhere.  Have gone through the wizard and seems like it's the same old thing.

I'm trying to create a form for our customers to pay invoices online and I want them to be able to enter the amount and then have a percentage added to it to cover CC or paypal fees.  Something a 3%.

Can I do this??  If so can you tell me which widget/plug-in I'm supposed to use and where the tax option is configured?

Hi. Thank you Jotform team for your great product. I have spent a lot of time searching and this seems the best available. I am looking for the same product as this customer. Wondering why there isn't a feature like this?

I can imagine a number of industries where this would be in demand. I run a small hospitality business where a 3rd party charges the customer for a product but does not collect sales tax. I need a form to be able to calculate the sales tax and charge the customer this amount.

Please respond. I see this threat doesn't have an answer yet. Thank you.

    Hello Lotusgarden,

It is possible to achieve your requirement by taking advantage of our "Form Calculation" widget. I have moved your question to a new thread so that we can address your issue separately here: https://www.jotform.com/answers/831548
