Sorry but there is no other way other than making an actual submissions with your form consuming one submissions count per entry. However, we can reset your submissions counter for you upon your request and if we confirmed if it's a test submission. However, keep in mind that we can only do this once.

Yes you are correct that will count as one submission but if you are going to push Test under Email Alerts that will send a test submission to the registered email on your account only and will not send an email to the recipient's email.
