Form collapse field settings not working

Asked by cheekyface on February 26, 2014 at 06:04 PM

Is there still a problem with form collapse fileds?

I can't seem to get it to work.  I added a couple of form collapses near the end of my form to reveal a terms & conditions area and an agreement checkbox below that that remains visible.

So the first collapse is set to closed and visible.  It reveals a page embedded with the embed widget. Beneath this area I put another form collapse with the settings as
visibility = hidden and Status = open.
This should therefore show anything beneath it should it not??
Well it doesn't.  It also hides the submit button for the form so I either need to have this fixed or I need a solution to my pop-up window requirement here

For the time being I've set up the terms & conditions as a link to a separate page since i cant' get the collapse fields to work as I'd like (and as I've just learned it's not possible to have a pop-up window).

    Please help.

    Hi,

visibility = hidden and Status = open.

This should therefore show anything beneath it should it not??

Can you please clarify what is the need for addtional collapse field after the visible collapse field?

We could be able to provide you the appropriate suggestion if we get clear of this.

The script to have pop-up dialog window that previously worked on HTML field is not applicable anymore since embedded scripts are no longer allowed in TEXT(html) fields. This was part of security measure implemented on the form TEXT field.

    Thanks.

Becasue the pop-up windows are not possible to set up anymore I tried to use the collapse fields to show and hide the terms & conditions on the last page.  So I added a collapse field and then embedded an iframe using the widget beneath the collapse field so that would show the terms & conditions when the collapse field is clicked.  I set this to visible but closed.

Beneath this I have the last question which is the "I agree to terms & conditions" with a check box.  I would like to keep this at the bottom (I have a fairly good reason but too long to explain here).
If I don't add the second collapse field then this question will be included in the first collapse field so I've added the 2nd collapsing field and set it to OPEN and INVISIBLE so that it would allow the last question to be seen.

What I find is that I can't see the last question at all and neither can I see the submit button if I do this.  I have removed this for now so it's pointless for you to see the form but here it is anyhow:

hope you can help but I guess how it is now is OK.  I just feel that the terms & conditions will take people away from the form if they have to go to another page so trying to work out a better way to give them access.

So far the current workflow appears to be great. I would suggest to add the ToC information on to a Text Field. This way as soon as they are ready the ToC they can proceed to submit the form:

    Like So: http://form.jotformpro.com/form/40569509640964?

On my form I have used a text field and customize it to render an iFrame:

    <iframe height="200px" width="100%" scrolling="yes" src="//www.cheekyface.com.au/agreement/"></iframe>

Kindly perform a clone of my form for reference.

Do let us know if you need additional assistance.

    Thank you.

    Thanks Cesar.
That will work too but I still would prefer to be able to hide the terms & conditions and give th euser the option to read them or not.  Some of our customers have already read the T's & C's when completing a quote form and some of them are repeat customers.  I suppose what I could do is put in a check box that when ticked reveals the Iframe and that would do the trick but I liek the idea of a pop-up window or using the collapse fields better still.  Would be great if jotform offered the ability to insert a button and then you could add functionality to it so instead of a checkbox for showing the iFrame it would be clcik this to show the iFrame (just a thought).

    Thanks again.
Would like to know why I am unable to do what I was trying to do with the collapsing fields still?

    Hello,

Yes, it certainly would be a great feature...I will run a few possibilities and perhaps raise a feature request for a pop-out light-box that can be used for things like T&C - Etc

Yes, kindly share your difficulty with the collapse fields - perhaps even on a new thread - we would love to help you resolve any issues with your form.

    Looking forward to your response.

Thanks TitusN. I thought I started this thread to get an answer as to why the collapse field isn't working? Do I really have to start another?

Oh no - not necessary - hence the 'perhaps' -

You may update this thread as well.

OK Phew.  So I guess I'll look forward to seeing some explanation here when someone figures it out?  I still have no idea why I can't use them as before.

    Sorry about that -

I checked your form (http://www.jotform.co/form/31254281294856) - and seems to operate as you described in the beginning of this thread.... hmm... hope I did not miss something...

However, form collapse sections and page breaks have been known to break visibility when used together.

To fix that, just use a hidden page break at the bottom of the form as shown (hide the back and next buttons)

Let us know if this helps.
