    Pre-populate with variables

    Asked by rebirthdesign on February 26, 2014 at 11:27 PM

    Hi there!

    I'm tryig to prepopulate with variables as I've seen on some of the threads:

    here's my first form:

    http://jotformpro.com/form/40565978236971

    Which upon email auto-responder will send out to:

    http://form.jotformpro.com/form/40505201843948?firstName[first]={firstName:first}&lastName[last]={lastName:last}

    It's not working.

    I would like the first name/last name/username to all be prepopulated upon click.  What am I doing wrong?

    This will work embed under my own domain too right?

    Also, can a Session ID be used inconjunction with prepopulate?

    Thanks!

    First do make sure your prepopulating fields are properly set, like so:

    http://jotformpro.com/form/40565978236971?firstName=John&lastName=Doe&userName=JD2014&email4=jd@gmail.com

    This will work embed under my own domain too right?

    It may work fine by utilizing the standard embed code, do note that using this method may result in script conflicts on your form.

    Also, can a Session ID be used inconjunction with prepopulate?

    May depend on what you are trying to achieve. The edit link does use the Submission ID and Form ID to generate the Edit Link.

    Thank you

    Thanks Cesar!

    I'm trying to prepopulate in terms of variables - not static - such as found in this thread:

    http://www.jotform.com/answers/92390-Problems-prepopulating-form-through-url

    In other words, whatever the user inputs in the various fields will be applied dynamically.

    Thanks!

    In the case you are pulling the value from fields. This should still be possible. But you need to make sure on the fields you are trying to populate to.

    For example your code:
    http://form.jotformpro.com/form/40505201843948?firstName[first]={firstName:first}&lastName[last]={lastName:last

    Should be along these lines:
    http://form.jotformpro.com/form/40505201843948?firstName={firstName}&lastName={lastName}

    As you are using Text Boxes and not retrieving the values from a Full Name field.

    Kindly test my example forms:

    First form: http://form.jotformpro.com/form/40570307724955?

    I have added the prepopulating string to both email and thank you page:

    http://form.jotformpro.com/form/40570321201941?firstName={firstName}&lastName={lastName}&username={username}

    When you submit the first form the thank you page will generate the neccesary link.

    This is my second form: http://form.jotformpro.com/form/40570321201941? as referred to on my link above.
