This is a known bug. Please try the following workarounds:
If you are using Internet Explorer, try signing up with a different browser. The problem appears to be asociated with IE only (although at least one user stated that the problem was affecting all of his browsers).
A second solution is to press the [Alt] key while entering the username.
Please let us know if either, both or neither of these solutions worked as it will help us better guide other users experiencing the same problem.
