Formatting a numeric field

When I use an inpur mask like "###,###" my users find the field pre-filled with "000,000" but they have to backspace over all seven characters in order to type a response. Can I demand a numeric without pre-filling the field?

You should set the placeholder value to ###,### and default value to blank as shown in the image below.
