Conditions Not Working CorrectlyAsked by Tigrislyn on March 16, 2014 at 03:41 PM
I am having issues with my conditions not working correctly. The main one is the Child's Name fields under the photo and medical waiver sections. If the person enters 1 for "how many children are you registering" then only that one name should show up and not the other blank fields. If 4 is entered, it works correctly, but not 3, 2, or 1.
This first issue was working great until I had to replace the fields with the new calcualtion widget field. Now, it is not taking the conditions and doing the correctly, regardless of computer, brower, or cleared cache.
I am also having issues with the payment section of things not showing up when they are suppose to and other fields not hiding when they are suppose to. I have reentered them all, tried to make sure they are in the correct order, and double checked everything (triple or more checked everything). I have used different browsers and different computers...same issues.
I have researched some and it appears that with jotform you cannot hide a field in one condition and show it in another. Here is my problem. I need to hide certian items and show others based on what they select for the payment method (payment, parital scholarship, full scholarsip), I need certain ones to not go back to hidden if they select the wrong method and then change it. (ie, click full payment then change to partial scholarship, the extra book and CD fields need to go away then.
In regards to the Child's Name fields that are not hiding correctly, the issue appears to be that when I hide it when equal to 3, the fields that I hid when equal to 4 are not hiding when equal to 3.
I have removed the conditions for when equal to 2 or 1 for the moment (no point if I can't get equal to 3 working correctly). I need to hid certain fields depending on the entry. How can I hide something that another condition may be trying to hid.
To order the Child fields I have cloned your form and modified it: http://form.jotformpro.com/form/40747790834969?
I have added a Form Collapse Field to each child to group all their fields. And I have set the conditions, like so:
Kindly test my example form, it should show the neccesary amount of sections, depending on the number of children the user need to register.
In regards to other conditions on you form. I do see that you have made dual conditions to every action (Show Conditions and Hide Conditions on the same fields). Conditional rules when applied have their counter behavior implied, in which case there is no need to list both actions to one condition. For example, if you want to show a field until another is filled. It is already implied that the field will be hidden. So there is no need to make the hidden conditionl rule, like in this case:
Do try the example form listed above, do let us know if you need further assistance. Thank you.
What you did on the child's name is not what I wanted. It is not hiding the others and now puts the info in the wrong spot. Anyway, I did something different and it works the way I want it to.
I'm going to work on the other, but I'm not sure what I want is coming across very well. After I make adjustments, I will ask again.
Also, I didn't want all the different children's info on the same page. It needed to be broken up to make it more user friendly.
Upon checking my colleague's demo form, I found the conditions to be working correctly based on the user input of "How many children are you registering?"
I am glad to know that you were able to change the conditions yourself and it is working as expected. If you are still haveing some trouble with your conditions, I would suggest you to describe your step by step requirement in details so that we can help you with it.
Your colleague's demo form did work correctly for what he did. However, it is not what I was asking for. I did not want the individual child's registration info to show or hide based on the number of children registered. I was asking for the names under Photo Permission and Medical Release to hide or show based on number of children registered. This is a non-issue now, since I have fixed it.
I am glad to know that you have fixed the problem yourself.
