Populate a Header field

Is there any way for a header to be populated based on user input?

I think this is the only way for the header to either appear or disappear on the PDF printout afterwards, as fields that are not populated do not appear (and so some of the headers do not want to be on the PDF if the fields under that category are not filled).

Currently the very first question make you jump to a certain section and then hides the other sections from the rest of the form. I would like it so that the header for that section is populated based on the user input of the very first question, so that then other header in the other section is then removed from the PDF version.

I hope that explanation makes sense!

    Hello Vacancies_Cheney,

You may use the Paragraph field in PDF editor then select the header option.

Please note that nothing can be removed dynamically from PDF.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi Sam,

So the issue is actually within the form that they fill in that needs to auto-populate based on an answer.

If you test the form via one of the routes and then submit, you will notice the PDF submission printout removes all the input boxes from the form that were not used.

I need the Header of each section inside the fillable form to be an auto-populated field, so that on the PDF printout the header and section that were not completed will not appear in the printout.

You can see the demo PDF in the inbox for the form, in which I took one of the routes. Only the information from one of the routes correctly appears in the PDF, but just the Header appears from the other route which doesn't want to be there.

    I hope that helps.

The way I found around this is a bit cumbersome, but I believe it accomplishes what you need it to.

    Here's my example form: https://www.jotform.com/213080993835058

And depending on how the form is answered, the PDF would look different.

To accomplish this, I first added a Short Text field, which will hold the text. In my case it's just named "textforheader".

Then I added a Paragraph field, and edited the formatting to look like a heading.

From Form Fields I added my Short Text field into the Paragraph.

After that, you should have something like this, when viewed from the builder:

With these fields added, we need to create 2 new Update/Calculate Field conditions.

If the header should be based on the "3. Are you completing a character (...)" question for example, the conditions would look similar to this:

The bottom part, I've just added a space, which is then shown as a brown square after saving, effectively making the header empty.

Then you would create an opposite condition, that adds text if the value isn't the same.

If there's any issue settings this up, please let us know. Please share which page the Paragraph/Header is currently on, and we can give you more detailed steps for exactly how the new conditions should look.

    Best regards,
