I've set up a form and you can attach documents to it. After you submit it, it sends an email. In that email the attachments how up as a link that you can click to download the attchments. Is there a way to set it up so the attchments show up outside the form where they are attached to the email? Or is the link method the only way?

Unfortunately, that's how the uploaded files appears to the notification/autoresponder email settings. It always comes as a link instead of as attachments.
You have to click on the link to download the file.
