Spreadsheet to Form: Option to use Google Sheets as data source

I am looking for the ability to create a list of options (like a drop-down) that comes from an external source like a database or spreadsheet.

For example, if I am making a form of food items for people to bring to a potluck. After someone chooses an item it should not be available for others to choose who fill out the form after.

Also If I am making a form where the person filling out the form is choosing an employee that they want to work with. But employees can be added or removed from the business therefore the list needs to update automatically (hopefully).

    Hi

I am looking for being able to create a list of options (like a drop-down) that comes from an external source like a database or spreadsheet.

I would like to recommend adding Dynamic Dropdown widget from the form builder. When using Dynamic Dropdown, the options visible to the respondents will be based on previously selected options. You can refer to the guide below for more information.

I have studied the Dynamic dropdown and that is not what I need.

The main thing I am looking for is a way to add options to a dropdown list from outside of Jotform. Where if some of those options change are added or removed those changes will be reflected in the form automatically.

I know that this is a big ask and if this is not available already I would like to make a feature request.

    Hello,

Thank you for reviewing my suggestion and for confirming what you are trying to achieve. Also, please have a look at our Spreadsheet to Form widget. What it does is, it pre-populate fields in your form with values from an external source, which is the spreadsheet that you will upload. Check out the guides below for more information.

If in any case this is still not what you need. I'd be glad to send a feature request to our developers.

    Kind Regards,

I'm sorry but in spite of the fact that I really enjoyed hearing about the spreadsheet to form feature, this still does not accomplish what I'm looking for.

The reason is the file needs to be downloaded and then uploaded to The Forum when the Excel file is downloaded there is no opportunity for the content within that Excel file to be changed. This is also true when the file is uploaded to the Jotform.

If there was some way to build an API connection between Google Sheets and Jotform where some of the data from Google Sheets would populate a drop-down list that would accomplish the goal that I'm looking for.

Again if this feature doesn't exist I totally understand but I would definitely appreciate this as a feature request.

Thanks for further explaining your requirement. There are actually several requests to use Google Sheet as a data source for Spreadsheet to Form to make it dynamic.

As requested, I'm forwarding this ticket to our backend team as a Feature Request. Though we cannot guarantee an ETA, rest assured you'll be apprised here of any updates.

I can tell you that if you also included Airtable as a source for dynamic data in addition to Google sheets. That would be a HUGE improvement for a large base of your users.
