Fields: Submission Date vs Date

    Hello JF

The form referenced below has a field called "Date," which is hidden and set to Default Date = Current

The submission data (we integrate into Google sheets) shows these first two fields:

    • Submission Date
    • Date

I am trying to understand what each of those is. Am I correct to assume:

    • Submission Date is automatically captured by the form, without requiring a field? If so, is the date/time the moment they click the Submit button (rather than when they open the form)?
    • Date is recorded when they open the form?

What is odd is that if my assumption is correct ("Date" = date they open the form, and "Submission Date" when they submit, then I do not understan why the values in those two columns are not consistent as to which is larger. Can you please explain?

Also, as to the effect of returning and editing the form later:

    • Submission Date: is it updated when they return and edit the form?
    • Date: is it updated when they return and edit the form?

IF both are re-set when someone edits, how do we get a column that shows the date-time of the original submission, which does not change upon later edits?

    Thank you!

    Dear customer,

    Thank you for your query.

I can see that the date picker is set to to Default Date = Current as well it being hidden on the form and you are correct about it being the date and time when the form is opened by the user.

However the submission date is not the time and date when the user clicks submit. In circumstances when the user is submitting offline if they click submit it does not mean that the server received that submission at the time the form was submitted. Therefore the submission date is the time when the submission is received on server.

In relation to your question about retrieving the original form before it is edit, in tables there will be a column called 'Last update date, this will indicate when submission was last edited

    I hope this helps

    Kind regards,
