Jotform App: Passing URL parameters into an App Changing %20 to +
-
Randy_VoglAsked on November 20, 2021 at 12:06 PM
I am passing URL parameters into the APP to automatically fill out some pieces of data in forms linked to the APP. The data populates but the Jotform App is changing all spaces or %20 to a plus "+" which is changing the HTML values that are passed in. Is this a bug that needs to be addressed by Jotform or is there something that I can do on my side to pass in a URL parameter with a space in the value?

I was able to replicate the issue in the app:
But not when using the direct URL of the form:
I am sending this over to our backend team for further checking. We will let you know here as soon as we hear from them.
Apologies for this inconvenience.

Thanks! The only additional feedback on would give on this issue is that, if I feed the URLs at the app root level, when I click on a form it will actually change the URL from %20 to +

I was able to replicate that as well:
I am adding this to the escalated ticket. Thanks for reporting it.

I am still having issues when going from the root page to a subform. It is still adding the +. It is working now if I go directly to the page. But won't persist if I go back a page it changes the passed URLs throughout the session while switching between pages.
For us, this is important because we have some customers that we look up data in an internal database and send them a custom URL with data and some of that data has spaces and if Jotform is changing the spaces to + then it can generate errors all over the place.
Additionally, it would be super helpful if at some point we could have conditions for displaying forms and links on the homepage. For me it would be helpful based on URL parameters immediately, but I could also see uses for unlocking other forms after they have submitted other forms. -

Hello,
I'm a bit confused, if you have a link and then hit back on the browser and then forward it's not working or is it something else? Can you provide an example link and what it is you're doing to recreate what's happening, if possible with a video or screenshots.
I have also moved asking to add conditions to it's own ticket where I'll make that a feature request for you here https://www.jotform.com/answers/3535109.

Thanks guys,
If you look at the video that was made by JohnRex Jotform Support Answered on November 20, 2021 at 02:53 PM. You will see what I am talking about. If you can't reproduce that I can send you a video, but it is the exact same thing
this is the form that I am using for testing you should be able to go to this link and then click on the form. and it will change %20 to +

Upon further inspection, it looks like you guys are changing the URL to + but translating those back into spaces on the form. So I might be wrong, sorry, I can do some testing on that and see if it creates any unintended errors. But my simple tests are working on the form. Sorry the original form I was passing URLs to had them as hidden fields so I couldn't see anything but the URL changing

I was able to confirm that it's now working as intended:
Although the URL parameters show "+" signs, the data being pre-populated to the fields are the ones we intended to be added.
Let us know if it works the same on your end and if so, we can now close this ticket as RESOLVED.

Yes, after further testing it is working. You can close the case.
