I'm creating a quote form and trying to hide certain fields with conditional logic and I think it will be a big help in future for many (not just myself) when you guys make it possible to remove the blank field in the drop-list so that it is not an option.
I've read a couple of threads where this is being asked by others but it was some time ago now and it seems it's not a huge priority which is fair enough, but I thought I'd add to the list of those wishing for this and point out another reason why it would help simplify things.
I have several fields that I'd like to hide when the drop list question "How Long" is selected. This drop list has about 20 or so options and so the easiest way to do this is to show the fields in question (lets say field X) when the 1st option (Click to Select ) = Is Not Selected.
ie. Logic reads as IF "how long" "is not equal to" "Click to select" then "show" "fields X"
Becasue the blank field exists at the very top, if the user were to go back and change the selection to the blank field then it would show all the fields I want to remain hidden. I have no option to make the rules address what happens if the blank field is selected or ignored. I think this is reason enough to do something about this but at least give users the ability to control what happens when it is selected if you can't give us the option to remove it altogether.
I hope you agree.
The other two threads I've read relating to this are:

Your suggested rules to compensate for the inability to removed the blank option in the drop-down selection is currently the best method that will work.
As long as the rule "IF EMPTY" followed by equal action, you can always force the form user to not use the blank selection as an option.
Another method which you may want to look at is by using the form's source code embed.
Using the form's source code, you remove the the 'blank' selection in the drop-down option.
When the 'blank' option is removed, there will be a default value in the dropdown.
I will also submit this thread to our higher team support for consideration as a feature.
BUT please understand that there is no guarantee yet that it can be approved as it needs to be reviewed by our higher ups.
In any case, we will update this thread for any response/updates when available.

It is currently not possible to remove the blank option in the dropdown list. To achieve this, you will need to use the full source code of your form and embed that code to a web page. Once that is done, then you'll be able to disable the blank option by modifying your forms source code:
<option value="" disabled="disabled" selected="selected">Select your option</option>
If you like, you can send your own request for the ability to remove the blank option from the dropdown menu. You can post your request here: https://www.jotform.com/contact/. By sending your own request, you will let our developers know that more people are requesting this feature.
