That happened because you went over the 100MB Upload Space limit for free accounts. To free up space it is best to back the files up to your computer or a cloud storage like box or dropbox using one of our integrations for that then you can delete them and that limit will remove itself.
Anyways though since you said you wanted to upgrade I've gone ahead and removed the limit for you which had temporarily locked your account until the monthly reset. You should be able to upgrade to the plan of your choice now and if you have any further issues with it just let us know.
