The possibility of having a text box that autocompletes from a Drop- down list?

Asked by ics.vernna on March 30, 2014 at 11:41 PM

While waiting for when my request to be fulfilled re: Type Zip Code to Select City from a List.  I will be going for the long route right now by manually adding all cities and post codes in the drop down field and applying a conditional logic that when a certain post code is chosen, the corresponding city will appear in the next table and vice versa.

However, since there are thousands of post codes and cities/suburbs in Australia to be placed as options in the drop down menu, I would like to know/ask if there is a way that a user can type in the post code/city, without having to scroll down a long list?  For example, the user can type the first 2 digits only of the post code and only the post codes bearing the same first 2 digits will appear in the drop down options.

Your help would be very much appreciated for this very tasking prject.

    Hello,

Have you tried our Geolocator Widget? I belive it works with Zip codes as well: http://widgets.jotform.com/widget/geocomplete

Give these two widgets a shot as well:

    1. http://widgets.jotform.com/widget/address_map_locator

    2. http://widgets.jotform.com/widget/get_visitor_location

However, your original widget is about an autocomplete feature that shows possible values in a drop down list - right?

    Try this widget -http://widgets.jotform.com/widget/autocomp

Let us know what limitations you meet with the suggestion you decide to work with.

Thank you very much, TitusN!  The Geolocator Widget worked just fine.

However, is there a way to change the size of the text field that would match the current sizes of my other text fields?  This is my form: http://form.jotform.me/form/40848431871459?

Also, can I change the text written on the field to "Enter your postcode/city/suburb" instead of "Enter your location"?

Lastly, after placing/choosing my location the bottom line/border of the box disappears.  Is there a way to tweak it?

Thank you so much, once again!

You may be able to edit the font on the widget, i do believe the input field is not editable as it's styling is separate from the form.

Also, can I change the text written on the field to "Enter your postcode/city/suburb" instead of "Enter your location"?

You are able to edit the label for the geocompleteaddress_map_locator widgets

Lastly, after placing/choosing my location the bottom line/border of the box disappears.  Is there a way to tweak it?

Are you referring to the geocomplete widget? I believe this is the styling on the widget. Unfortunately this is not editable at this time.

If you need any other assistance, do let us know. Thank you.
