Complex Matrix / Checkbox LimitationsAsked by guelphlittletheatre on July 25, 2011 at 01:55 AM
I am attempting to create the illusion of a complex matrix of different field types (eg. pulldowns, text, checkboxes in different columns all on the same row - multiple rows of the same). When I create a checkbox with a single choice and no text for that choice (because I have a header for that column) the checkbox is always selected. I can't find a way to unselect it.
Seems to me to be a unique boundary condition that may have been missed. Hopefully this isn't by design.
With the details you provided, I believe I was able to replicate the issue you are trying to report to us. You have a checkbox field with one option box that has no label. And when you save the form and preview it, this box is always checked even if it is not a required field and it is not selected by default.
There is a workaround for this but it will only work if you are using the full source code. just look for the check box field concerned and remove this check box attribute - checked="checked"
We hope you find this tip helpful. Please update us with the results and let us know if you need further assistsance.

I really don't want to have to get into the full source if I can avoid it. Isn't this a bug in the user interface?
I guess what the system does is that it assumes that since there is only one option, it will definitely be checked by the user, especially if it is marked as a Required field. This assumption, however, does not apply all the time, as in your case. I shall help you escalate this case to our Tier 2 Support for further action and resolution.
