Forcing inputs onto different excell cells

    Hi,

Completely new to this so sorry if this is a stupid question :-). I want to ask a question and based on the answer further information under conditions. For example:

Were any desks left open today?

Then if the answer is no it moves on which I get, but if the answer is yes I want them to enter the desk number on a separate line, a bit like the configurable list widget? But when I extract that into Excel I want each one of those desks listed in a different column, whereas at the moment they are all grouped together in the same cell. Any advice gratefully received.

    Many thanks

Hi there, Thanks for reaching out to support.

I'm not sure if I understood the right thing you want to ask. So, could you please elaborate your requirement in order to allow us to assist you in a better way.

Do you want to conditionally populate the Configurable List field based on user's answer?

Do you want to separate the values entered in a configurable list widget when being exported to an Excel file?

This information would help us to investigate the requirement, and hopefully, found a solution.

apologies if I wasn't clear.at the moment I have a configurable list, and question is asking:

    Were all desks used today?

The option is yes or no, if yes then there is no further criteria. If someone enters no there is a conditional question which asks:

    Which desks were unused?

To answer this I want people to indicate which desks were unused, so for example, desk 3, 4 and 5. However, I want them to enter it into a way that when I export the data into Excel the answers (3, 4 and, 5) are all in different cells. At the moment using a configurable list it simply puts 3, 4 and 5 into a single cell which makes it impossible to work with. It doesn't have to be a configurable list, if you have other widgets that you would suggest using I'm happy to do so. The key thing is the exporting responnses onto different cells so they can be annalysed

Do you have a requirement to be able to add multiple rows that's why you added the Configurable list?

If not, then you can add Short Text Entry fields that would make the submissions appear in separate columns.

If yes, you want to add multiple rows of Room, Speciality then you can consider adding Input Table in the following way:1638891903 61af817f847b0 Screenshot 10

Should you have any further queries, please let us know.

    Thanks.

Yes I do have a requirement, for people, to add lines depending on how many rooms were unused. Where do I find input table?

okay thanks, I found it. Is there a way to allow the person completing the form to add additional rows?

sorry, it still doesn't do what looking for. See the 4th column, it has combined everything together whereas ideally, I want the data entered in different columns. so it would look something like this

    1 dermatology 3 ophthalmology 7 urologgy

With each of the above in a different column

    Hello,

The input table element would combine all data in one column when viewed on the submission table. If you wish to have the data in separate columns you can use a short text entry field on your form for your users to input the data, and when viewed on the submission table each data would be in different columns.

    I hope this helps.

Sort of but still doesn't completely solve my problem. Let me try and explain. we have a medical clinic which has 18 rooms. Each one of those rooms is booked to a speciality for the day. We are asking staff to complete a form to confirm whether all of the rooms were used, and if they weren't, which room wasn't used, and who the specialty whilst that should have used it. So the question is:

    • Were all of the rooms used today? (Yes/no)
    • If the answer is no we want them to tell us which room wasn't used
    • This could be any number between one and 18 as we have 18 rooms in that clinic. Therefore I need the room number in one column
    • in the example above they are indicating that room one was vacant and dermatology should have been using it, room 3 was also vacant and ophthalmology should have been using it, finally, room 7 was also unused and should have been used by urology.

So in terms of the table above I want something like the following:

submission date date clinic unused room specialty unused room specialty unused room specialty

The person completing the form would enter the vacant room number in one field followed by the speciality in another, and they would be able to add additional lines depending on how many rooms were unused on that day.

does that help? Any help gratefully received
