    How to capitalize just the First Name field in an Autoresponder?

    Asked by 4rreeaall on April 11, 2014 at 06:02 PM

    I want an autoresponder to include the first name of the person who submitted the form, but I want the first letter capitalized. Right now my form says {name:first}, how do I adjust it properly to add the CAPITALIZE feature?

    I figure it's not just {CAPITALIZE:name:first} but please let me know.

    Thanks!

    Hi 4rreeaall,

    You can set all the first letters in uppercase by adding the word "CAPITALIZE:" right before the name of the field. Say, the original name of the field is {firstName}, make it {CAPITALIZE:firstName} to make all the first letter of the words in uppercase.

    In case you labeled the first name field with "First Name", the name of that field should be {firstName} just add CAPITALIZE: at the beginning, changing nothing else.

    Walledgarden,

    Thanks for the quick reply. However, the label of this field is "Name" but it includes an area for both a First Name and Last Name. So if I were to simply put CAPITALIZE in front of the field name in the autoresponder (i.e. {CAPITALIZE:Name}), then it would send emails with the recipients first and last name.

    This is why my autoresponder currently says {name:first} at the beginning of the email; I only want it to input the recipient's first name. How do I get the autoresponder to only start an email with a recipient's first name, and also have it capitalized?

    I think the confusion above is that I do not have two separate fields for First Name and Last Name, but rather just one field titled Name that allows inputs for the first and last names.

    @4rreeaall

    Thanks for the explanation. So, what you are looking for is to use the "First Name" only and capitalize it, right?

    So, all you need to do is to use this variable {CAPITALIZE:name:first}. That is defining just the First Name field, so if you do not define the Last Name, it will not appear.

    In case you wish to also use the last name field simply use this variable {CAPITALIZE:name:last}. Your can even separate both fields into different rows in the body of the notification or you can place it where you wish.

    Here is the result.

    Inform us if you need further assistance with this query.

    Thanks
