Using spinners assign minimum value base on Conditions

Asked by csanders_watpac on April 14, 2014 at 04:05 AM

I have three spinners in my questionnaire.

I was hoping to use the choice of the first to automatically set the default minimum of the second and third but can see no way to do that.

i.e. First spinner = Number of support persons within my state = 6 therefore the number of support persons within my Country cannot be any LESS than 6 so I would like the number chosen at State level to set the minimum at Country and International levels for my second and third spinners

    Hi,

I was hoping to use the choice of the first to automatically set the default minimum of the second and third but can see no way to do that.

You cannot do this on the spinner field.

BUT using conditin logic you can at least prevent the user from selecting value for spinner 2 or 3 that is less than value of spinner 1

    Try this test form http://form.jotform.me/form/41033918961456?

Test by assigning values for spinner 2 or 3 that is less than spinner 1

I did the form using Form Calculation Widget

    and setup condition like this

Hope this help. Tell us your thought about this.

    Thanks.

Although a clever tweak to use the FC widget to display a warning, it’s not really what I was looking for.
I want to reduce user activity so I really want to pre-populate meaningful defaults of as many controls as possible.
BTW would you be so good as to walk me through how you did that with the FC widget as I’ve not tried to use any of the widgets yet
(I’m new to this particular product having just ditched Google Forms due to limitations with extended questionnaires)
For example, they won’t even see the third spinner (world-wide support numbers) if one of the earlier questions indicates their company does NOT have international presence

    Hello Colin,

Here are the steps which my colleague have taken to achieve this:

    1. Add three spinner field in form.

    2. Add a "Text" field to display the error message.

    3. Add "Form Calculation" widget in your form to check the value of spinner field 2.

    4. Add another "Form Calculation" widget in your form to check the value of spinner field 3.

    4. Add condition to check the value of calculation widget 2/ calculation widget 3 and show /hide the error message:

    Hope this helps.

Do get back to us if you have any questions.

    Thank you!
