Submissions Table column headers are rearranging

    Hi

The submissions table with our results is causing problems. It works ok in old version, but in new version:

    • Columns keep rearranging themselves - we need them to remain in order so the data makes sense. I KNOW I can manually reorder them. However: a) they don't stay like this if anyone hides a column or selects columns and b) this is a complex form so ridiculously tedious doing this task of re-ordering. Why can't it just be in the right order?
    • Some questions/data don't seem to be appearing in the table at all!

I was thinking of upgrading to a paid plan but now I think we will look for a different platform. It's making my job impossible and wasting my time.

To clarify, when you receive new submissions the table column headers are re-arranged?

I have checked your table and it seems you have pinned the column headers.

Regarding the data not showing, may we know what field data are not showing in the table?

    Looking forward to your response.

Hi – I just realised Richie P answered (went to junk).
I now see there were questions of clarification.
In answer to his query, no, this is not what is happening.
    * WHAT I WANT TO ACHIEVE: I want all the columns in the submissions area of my form to stay in order (same as the order of questions in the form). If you filter the view or hide a column, then unhide or unfilter, I want it to go back to the correct order (same as order of questions in form).
    * WHAT IS HAPPENING: If someone filters the form view, hides a column, or adds in a new question to the form, the columns in the submissions area change and go out of order (not same as order of questions in form)
    * WHY IT IS IMPORTANT: It just makes sense to have them in order? But its also a really long form, so if out of order it’s really confusing. Also, we have some questions where people select a drop down box answer, and they can select OTHER, as an option, they then specify what the ‘other’ is in a text box below. These two questions get separated in submissions area and it’s hard to understand the data.*
    * NO I HAVE NOT PINNED ALL THE COLUMN HEADERS: I have pinned some to try to keep them from moving. I was hoping to pin/freeze all of them as a workaround to the issue. However this didn’t work. You can only pin a few of them before the pinned columns take up whole screen/view and I can no longer see ones unpinned to RHS. The slider provided at the bottom only slides the unpinned columns. My form is too long to pin/freeze all the columns.
    * I have found the missing data
*Note Surveymonkey offers option for ‘other’ answers to question where person filling out form specifies what they mean by ‘other’ and this is all bundled into the one question so they don’t separate – can this be fixed in jotform?

    Hi there,

Thank you for explaining what you're trying to achieve

On the submission table, when a column is hidden & unhidden back, it unfortunately becomes the last column and doesn't go back to its original order, which is understandably confusing when working on a very long form. I am raising this to our developers as a feature request, and you will surely be notified through this thread once it's implemented,

In the mean time, to switch the order of the columns to default, which is how the fields are arranged on the form, click on the three dots by the name of the table, choose Manage Columns, then double-click the Select All option, as seen on the video below.

As for the Other option on the Input Table elements on your form with dropdown options, you can follow the steps below to add an input box for when a respondent has to answer Other.

    • Change the Input Type to Multi-Type Columns

    • Choose a column type for each columns. Textbox for Others & Dropdown for the rest.

    Hi Jane,

Thanks for using Jotform. We’re writing to let you know that we have implemented the Reset View to Default button, to revert the column names and order back to the originals. The columns created directly from the tables will be placed after the form field columns. Here's how to do it:

    • In Jotform Tables, click on the Three Dots icon in the green navigation bar next to the active tab. In the dropdown menu that opens, click on Reset View to Default.
    • Next, click on Yes, Reset, and confirm resetting the table view to default.

Please note that this button is available only for form owners, therefore collaborators and read-only users cannot see this button.
