Feature Request - Grid Reports Search - Fuzzy Search Turn Off

     Hi,

    Grid reports are generally fantastic.

Great value is obtained from the Search function at the bottom.

However, it always uses a fuzzy search criteria.

So, if you wanted to filter Male from Female ... it is not possible ..

    Look ...

Feature Request Grid Reports Search Fuzzy Search Turn Off Image 1 Screenshot 20

It would be great if you could put say quote marks around a word to distinguish the logic used for searching.
As it stands it is good but limited.
Can I request that Search function is optimised from a user point of view.
I'd greatly appreciate it this implementation as would my clients.
    Thanks mark

    Hi Mark,

Your request has been submitted to our dev team. We'll notify you for any updates once this feature has been implemented. Thank you for giving your idea about this feature this will be a big help specially if you are making a search through a large number of records and want some specific results.

    Hi there,

Is it possible that this could be implemented. I have a client who is interested in sorting on the variable male vs female but it cannot do it as it seems to use a fuzzy search algorithm ... could this be turned off and an exact search algorithm be used.

    Thanks Mark

The ticket is already opened Mark, but as you might know, our devs work on priortized tasks.

    Hi,

I really need this. I can't search on two separate words.

For example ... I have hidden fields called 'identifier' that will have a word ... e.g. June ... and when the next month comes around I change it to July.

So searching on these words is great ... it will show a subset of data.

But if I want to drill down on a name in that month e.g. Smith ... I can't put the two words in the "Search Submissions" box ... it filters to nothing ....

So it is essentially a one-trick pony ... search on a single word and that is it!

    Any news on this?

    Thanks Mark

    Hello Mark

I have added your comments to the ticket. As this is not a high priority feature, I cannot give you an ETA, but I'll send a note so they can review it and consider the implementation.

    Jeanette,

I remember when grid reports had no photos in them ... you couldn't see the thumbnail ... you couldn't click it to get it in a lightbox. They were low priority too. Only stacks of my time put in getting you lot to implement this feature .... it wouldn't be there if I hadn't been a jotform user.

So, stop for a second and think ....

What's the whole point of jotform? To collect data ... and provide a means of analysing it surely.

We have a search function on grid reports ... what it does is great but limited. It would be great to be able to type two different words into it ... this will allow users to filter on different fields.

Those two fields could be a name and a month. You could type in David and August and it would filter all David's results for August.

Not possible at the moment ... the search function is looking for that exact string ... David August ...

Can this be considered by Aytekin ... I think you are missing a trick not optimising this already great feature.

You will empower jotform users and their customers by enabling them to search for "what they want to search on"

    can this priority be enhanced.

    Thanks

    Hi Mark,

We can't promise you anything but your additional request with regards to the priority of this ticket is noted. Thank you for the additional information.

    Regards

Right ... how's this going ... it's a great idea ... I need it today ... grid reports are good ... but not good enough ...

Just like you manipulated the autocomplete field with fuzzy search and changed the logic accordingly .... how about you make this priority instead of those daft widgets I have not been able to use yet ;-)

    Thanks Mark

    Hello Mark,

Unfortunately, there's no update yet about this request from our developers. I'm not sure of the status either, but again, you should be notified here if there are updates.

And we have a separate developer for our widgets.

    Thank you!

In that case I've got to do this job with Logiforms or Formstack.

This has popped up onto my radar again ...

    in a nutshell ...

To improve the search function on grid reports.

Why? It is good but limited .... for example if you have a dropdown for gender with options male and female .... when you search on the grid report for males it doesn't filter male from female at all ... because the string 'male' is in both terms.

This is because it takes a fuzzy logic approach ... it is looking for the string 'male' in any word ... not the word 'male'

Do you agree that being able to put in the Search box ... "male" ... in quotes to search for the word "male" is a good idea?

    Thanks Mark

    Hi Mark,

I agree that it's a good idea to use quotes to search for the exact word in the grid reports.
I see that the ticket is still opened, but unfortunately there are no updates yet.

We appreciate your patience on this matter.
As soon as an update comes up, you'll be notified here.

    Best Regards.

    Hi,

It looks like an improved search function is a very low priority.  The current search function is great for simple searches but is useless for any even a little bit more than simple. I am a new JotForm user, unlike the experienced Mark, but I was very surprised to see that with such a wonderful data collection form that the data extraction side of the process has be neglected. What could be higher on the priority list!

Please do not forget this functionality . . . . as it seems has happened, this thread being now just over a year old.

Thanks for what you have done so well, and hopefully for what you will do soon.  : )

    Regards

    Charlie

    Good call Charlie,

Before Jotform request this on a new thread ... let's not.

I can honestly say that the Jotform reporting is vastly improved of late.

The matrix tool can now be graphed beautifully ... and the grid report is a very powerful tool that allows photos to pop up in a light box.

    So, well done Jotform.

However, a little more control over the search would add immense value.

For example .... being able to type in an exact string like "Male" that would not be utilising 'fuzzy logic' but would demand exact string matches ... well this would be powerful wouldn't it.

All I was asking here was to have a little look at the search function ... and enhance its capability.

Keep up the good work ... and listen to Charlie's words

    Thanks

    Mark

    Hi Charlie and Mark,

I have to admit that, but I'm sure our developers would not cancel this one. I'm sorry if we don't have any updates about this request. Whatever the reason is, I'm sure our developers will still look at this and try to implement it in the future.

Thank you for your kind understanding on this matter.
