    Lighbox jumps to the top of the page

    Asked by John Jackson  on May 02, 2014 at 12:15 PM

    When I use a form in a light box, the user is taken all the way to the top of the page when they launch the form.  So when they close the formlightbox they are lost.  Can I use any html coding to prevent the light box from jumping to the top?

    Thanks

    Thank you for contacting us.

    We will need to check this out. Can you please provide us with a link to the web page in question?

    To illustrate this problem, I have put the jot form link at the bottom of a lengthy page.
    http://www.spellboundrx.com/secure/About_Us/Reviews.html

    Scroll to the last review and see the link that says “Was this review helpful?”. The thumb images are actually the link. When you click on the image, the light box is launched. You can see that the page runs back up to the top. When the user closes the light box, they find themselves at the top of the long page. If we place this link on each review – which is what we plan to do – the user has to scroll back down to try to find where they were. This will discourage them from utilizing this link/form.

    We have notice this on all times we used the jotform lightbox.
    Any suggestions how to prevent this page placement problem?

    Any other suggestion how to handle an up/down vote with jot form?

    Thanks

    Thanks for providing the required information.

    To avoid this behaviour on your lightbox form remove the number 2 that appears in the src URL of the light box form:

    <script src="//max.jotfor.ms/static/feedback2.js?3.2.1707" type="text/javascript">

    new JotformFeedback({

    formId:'41214029708954',

    base:'http://jotformpro.com/',

    windowTitle:'Customer Review Feedback',

    background:'#FFA500',

    fontColor:'#FFFFFF',

    type:false,

    height:500,

    width:700

    });

    </script>

    <a class="lightbox-41214029708954" style="cursor:pointer;color:blue;text-decoration:underline;">Customer Review Feedback</a>

    So, it must be this way:

    <script src="//max.jotfor.ms/static/feedback.js?3.2.1707" type="text/javascript">

    new JotformFeedback({

    formId:'41214029708954',

    base:'http://jotformpro.com/',

    windowTitle:'Customer Review Feedback',

    background:'#FFA500',

    fontColor:'#FFFFFF',

    type:false,

    height:500,

    width:700

    });

    </script>

    <a class="lightbox-41214029708954" style="cursor:pointer;color:blue;text-decoration:underline;">Customer Review Feedback</a>

    That is the code of your form, please test it and inform us if it works or if you need further assistance.

    Thanks

    This still doe not solve the problem.  Leaving off the 's' just prevents the form fromlaunching at all.  I saw a post someone about using      base: "http://jotformpro.us/", instead of      base:"http://jotformpro.com/" becuase we are located in the U.S.  Is that strategy valid?

    Hello John,

    I can see that the light box is no longer jumping up at the top, however, the form doesn't load. I looked at your form but looks like you created a new Customer Review Feedback Form. That indicates that the form ID you have in your script is no longer valid. With that, kindly use the following code:

    <script src="//max.jotfor.ms/static/feedback.js?3.2.1707" type="text/javascript">

    new JotformFeedback({

    formId:'41258711310949',

    base:'http://jotformpro.com/',

    windowTitle:'Customer Review Feedback',

    background:'#FFA500',

    fontColor:'#FFFFFF',

    type:false,

    height:500,

    width:700

    });

    </script>

    <a class="lightbox-41258711310949" style="cursor:pointer;color:blue;text-decoration:underline;">Customer Review Feedback</a>

    Apply the code and test is again. Let us know if you need further help.
